shuttlespanker:
one of my drivers was pulled over by the police into Fleet Services on the M3, had a look around the truck and trailer, the total weight for that particular job was just over 37 tonnes, the ■■■■■■ copper told my driver that he was overweight as the legal limit in the UK is 36 tonnes
also, he told me over the phone that the tacho was out of calibration, as the date on the calibration sticker is when it expires, not when it was done
there were a couple iof other things thast i can’t remember what he said, but, it was all total ■■■■■■■■, even the 2 younger coppers that were with him tried telling him he was wrong, but, he, being the senior officer was having none of it
But the young female copper was bloody lovely…probably had something to do with the handcuffs if im honest!! They are always a winner!!

as it has been said already, the police complaints authority is independant from the police.
however, they are just the words that they want you to hear.
the truth is this. you can make a complaint to the police complaints authority, and then all they do is pass your complaint to the police station concerned. therefore your complaint is no longer independant from the police.
i would think it is a good idea to make a complaint by any lorry driver for this sort of thing, it may raise awareness, and maybe raise a debate by those in power about these out of date speed limits.
A copper once told me that they prefer us to stick to the limit on single carriageways, then the car drivers take more risks to pass, have more accidents which push up the statistics, which in turn persuades government to upgrade the road to dual carriageway… sorted , everybody happy…

I thought after the last year the A66 Penrith > Cockermouth would be looked at for that treatment, nothing yet though.
