What gets your goat

brett73:
when drive fills up at the pump and goes to pay orders a coffe insted of pulling forward so i can start to fil up. i allways fill up pull forward of the pumps then go and pay.

Even worse are the drivers who are not even filling up & park on the pumps to visit the shop! & the ones who try to complete breaks on the pumps! :smiling_imp:

Fileep:
All drivers whether they be car, bus, lorry divers who can clearly see roadworks ahead then they see the 800yd marker then the 600, then 400 and then 200 and then think they have the right to squeeze past my bumper when there’s 2ft 6" left. That get me sooooooooo mad.

Learn how to drive then. They’re not doing anything wrong. There’s a sign usually placed at 200 yards that says ā€˜merge in turn’, I suggest you look up the meaning of it instead of expecting everyone to sit in lane 1 for 18 miles which the other 1 or 2 lanes remain empty. :unamused:

I think that is the thing that REALLY gets my goat. Its even worse when the drive looks across at you sat there, they must think i am sat there for a laugh! They then proceed to come out of the garage after doing what can only be descirbed as their big shop!
Another thing that gets my goat is unhelpful drivers. We are all in the same industry so know how difficult it can be, a bit of common courtesy wouldnt go a miss sometimes.

This ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  me off no end as well, and car drivers do it just as much. They know you’re sat there behind them patiently waiting but they sit there flicking through their notes or some other BS to string it out to a 15 min break before moving off  . You can guarantee as soon as you reverse to pull onto a different pump that’s now become free, they’ll set off.   If only there was some way of changing their mode switch by remote control when they’re inside eating their bacon butties  , that would really [zb] them up and make my day. [zb] [zb] the lot of them  .

I like to have a moan more than most so what a good thread this for people of my ilk. None of the poor driving you see on the roads really matters until something happens - it’s only a matter of time with some chumps, but like others above I find the risky impatient selfish cutter-ins amongst the worse, particularly those individuals whose time is so important that they go down an unblocked filter lane only to cut in as near as possible at the front of the queue - I’m sure the same people do it all the time, undertaking, cutting in and out etc. etc. and I bet many of them should not be on the roads - I’d like to be able to check their tax disc to at least have something substantial to report to the authorities (I hope). We ought to have a top 10 of worst driving by others, to vote on. What I do in the case of a marked lane closure with static traffic in one lane and nothing in another is go in the empty lane (quite close to the closure) and to not or slowly overtake traffic on the left, whilst keeping an eye out for emergency vehicles - this prevents the impatient from jumping the queue and speeds up traffic by not allowing it to bunch at the bottleneck, so I believe.

I don’t agree most times with Rob K …But i must give him this one :grimacing: :grimacing:
On the continent they call it ā€œzippingā€ (ritsen in Dutch) and it is quoted in the Motorway rules and regulations.
You drive to the end of the blocked lane and filter 1 vehicle at the time in, on the other lane they let 1 vehicle at the time in, stops idiots, ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  etc to drive on the bumper of the car in front and HAHA we don’t let anybody in attitude to excist. :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

You are by law required to do so and get fined if you fail to do so, it makes the traffic moving in a slow but constant move.
What is the point to try all to move out of the blocked lane a mile or 2 before, they could aswel block the lane at that point.
By the way don’t try in Germany to block the lanes near roadwork with 2 trucks beside each other, like some drivers have a habbit to do here, because you worked that month for free, sponsering the German Autobahn polizei big style :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

Shift changes, why does it take em so bloody long, or when the forkie goes for his tea break whilst in the middle of loading/unloading when you need to get up the road.

LOL, Let me just take a moment as a forkie to apologise for my actions! :unamused: Ive done that plenty of times before but honestly? only to a driver (and their arent many of these tyes) who comes in to be tipped/loaded and he tells you how to do your job! Now, i aint blowin my own trumpet but im a [zb]hot FLT driver who is fast paced but very sensible and safe. And when youve got lorry drivers stood in the back of the trailers, telling you how to load his wagon, when surely, my 10 years of experience is enough for me to load a trailer how ever the [zb] i wanna. Thats bound to tickle a few nerves! :imp: :imp:

guys like this, generally (out of experience) hate there jobs and wanna make everyones else job harder, so, i can always make his job harder too…by going on my 30mins break…maybe even stretching it out to 40 mins

TBH, most of the drivers that i have had the pleasure of working with are generally nice blokes and will leave you/help you when needed. And these are the kinda guys i would gladly work through my break 4.

Ah [zb], i just thought, when i pass my class 2&1, i will have to deal with people like me!!! Better be sure to make nice then eh?

Steve-o:
Burger vans that don’t turn up till something stupid like 8am or the ones that pick and choose what day they’ll turn up. Unless the van is there at a reasonable time for industrial estate workers ie 7am latest and unless it’s there every day then I make a point of not using it. I’ll go hungry before I use on that can’t be arsed to provide a proper service to their customers

LOL, sounds like someone needs to start taking sandwiches to work…For the whole week if you tramp all week! :unamused:

What get up my nose more than a big, crusty bogie, is the stupid car drivers that can’t keep a constant speed on the motorway.

You know the sort, they join slowly or you catch them up, indicate, pull out, accelerate and just as you get to the bumper - off they go. Not fast but 2mph more than you. Ok, so you pull back in.

Not only have you inconvenienced other drivers behind you, but within 200 yards, the gits have slowed again. At that point, I get so close that I cant see the number plate. They soon speed up a bit when all they can see in the mirror is M A N in big silver letters

No it doesn’t and you should be banned from driving.

Rob K or is it ?

When I see someone in road works who has actually left it that late to merge that he is almost in the cones then He/She deserves to be put into them, I suspect you are one of these irritating morons who do this. Most ordinary decent people do merge in turn but no 3 feet before the lane closes. Another thing that gets my goat is irritating people like you who do not think anyone else can have a valid opinion.

The rule is that you can attack the post, but NOT the person. dd.

what gets my goat has happened 3 times this week :imp: :imp:

I’m on resricted hrs due to WTD hours iv’e worked , I normally tramp . So this week i’m parked up at 2ish every day and this means my truck has been going out on the night shift

So WHY :imp: :imp: Do the agency drivers think they have the right to blatently rummage thru my kit , sleep on my bedding with their boots on , and leave the cab like a pig sty :imp: :imp: :imp:

I ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  hate them and wish them pain !

that and car drivers who try and force onto m/ways because they don’t know the highway code…

Also, if traffic merged earlier, it would move freer, because if someone gets all the way to the front, the traffic in the left hand lane needs to slow or stop to let them in.

A car that sits in the middle of the layby thus using the whole ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  thing or someone who overtakes you on a dual just before a roundabout and stops even though its clear, causing you to stop

Ack its all part of the game, i’ll cope

Same here,we dont have many nights out but i’ve got all my gear in my cab just in case, all the night drivers know where my tv and dvd’s are and im happy for them to use them while theyre waiting to load/unload at night but it does my head in when they cant be bothered to put everything back so it doesnt fly across the bunk when i pull out of the yard at 2am :imp: :imp:

ā€œself appointed coppersā€ get on my nerves
you know the people who drive down the M1 through the roadworks where it says 50mph (80k) and sit at 70(k) in the middle lane, and its not always car drivers.
last week i came down the M1 towards the roadworks and a truck from one of those pallet hub companies goes past me and i was doing 90 then get to roadworks and he decides to do the whole stretch in the middle lane at 70, selfish and creating a lot of closely grouped traffic so dangerous :imp:
plus if somebody wants to go through over the speed limit and risk a fine from the cameras its their choice not mr holierthanthou

I totally agree with you but you get some drivers that will just stand in the trailer to try and get the job done quicker! Im due to take my class2 in just over a week and know how important it is to make sure the vehicles loaded correct (even more so with my job) You do get drivers though, that just wanna bug the [zb] out of you because theyre miserable [zb]! i find that most drivers i work with will come out onto the bay and watch me for a few minutes, see that im an ok FL driver and then go sit in the transport office till i`m done. And just to be even better at my job, i always srap the load in too, never had a complaint yet

You lost the text from the three quotes and ended up quoting the wrong person. Now fixed. dd.

I don’t own a goat :frowning:  :unamused:

Nice one Jon. Thinking outside the box.As usual.
