What does one have to do in this world?

Hi guys

Here goes, 1st time on here and very impressed with the comments on certain subjects…

Im class 1 fridge for the last 11 yrs worked for a guy in barking, just the 2 of us, Tramping most of europe delivering frozen meat, with back loads of fruit or what we could get. In december we had just delivered into Cheville outskirts of paris, and Bob was constantly braking, so i got on the old cb to find out what was going on… no reply… tractor and trailer now heading for a brick wall, as it hit i pulled mine to block the road, jumped out and ran to bobs cab, opened the door to find him slumped over the wheel, dragged him out checked not breathing started cpr, and a passer by phoned for an ambulance… All said and done the doctor pulled me into a room and started there long process of questions etc etc, cutting it short… A top heart surgeon could have been at the side of him, would have done him no good, A loss of a top guy that i had known for 11 years, last week went over to france and brought back his tractor and trailer, All said and done funeral out of the way, Where do i start… Ive placed c.vs in at everywhere to no avail, all i want is european work 2-3 weeks away with a decent pay to keep the wife and bank off my back, How hard has it become to get into a firm that does europe and doesnt drive bent… God have times changed or is it me ■■?

could`nt you take the business over

Didnt have the funds to be honest, and to be frank didnt want to go down the route of headaches etc etc

Welcome aboard mate.

I’m also in Ashton.

Good luck with the job hunt :sunglasses:

Asking a bit much, euro work without any funny business. Maybe you should look for some trolley dolley work.

To keep up and running for 11 years and increase capacity by another truck and by taking on another driver he must have had some decent contacts for ongoing work so it’s not like there’s not a good work base to get up and running on and maybe get the finance needed for the O Licence and to keep the one truck on the road that he’s been driving.

The same amount of work and one less truck sounds like a good situation to be in for a new start operation to me. :bulb:

Sorry for the loss of your good friend, and RIP drive.

The guys here should be able to point you in the right direction now.

Didn’t you used to say this BS with your other ID? What was it called, whitevan or something like that.

OP, sorry to hear about your Friend, welcome to the real World of no jobs or if there are any £7.50 for Class 1.

Dam shame about your mate OP but I think you need to look into running the business as your own, like has been said, you have the contacts and enough work for two trucks is not to be over looked get in before someone else does

+1, don’t leave it too long or you could also miss the opportunity.
Good luck with what you decide, must have been real hard, watching it happen and not being able to do anything to help.

That would be my thought, 11 years where you are already known is a huge boost to a new start. Is there any family who can help you, either yours or his. I am sure a customer who has had good service would be willing to talk with you, and maybe help you a little.

Without being mercenary this is probably a blessing in disguise and the only way I would consider running my own motor again.

Sympathies on the loss of your mate/boss

Sounds like a good business opportunity for Harry Monk  :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Have you tried Davies in Fareham/Southampton, great firm, loved working there in the late 90’s, and I saw one the other night. Very friendly bunch.RIP to your friend, very sad loss to you on both levels.
