I learnt that I can stand up for whats right and feel good abut it.
Defected a trailer with a bad air leak when handbreak was applied. Told TM not taking it as VOSA man will want my ■■■ if get stopped and worse still if in an accident some huge gorrila in cell block b might want my ■■■
He agrread not a good idea to take it out. Then some hours later a manager who knows sweet FA about rules of the road is on the phone insisting I take said trailer out (it houses special equipment for doing a specific job that he runs). I flatly refused and his blood pressure went through the roof, TM kind of side stepped it as it was getting political but me and said other manager had a great argument which I must of won as I didnt take it out till it was fixed on friday.
One to me but Mr Mardy wants my blood, he cant have it as my TM wants me to work more for him and less for Mr Mardy.
I’ve learnt that when its foggy, and you’re on a road you have been on 10 000 times before, roundabouts can still jump out at you and cause you to brown your pants when you realise you have 10 metres to stop. LOL
I learned that when groundworkers go home before you arrive with the load of sand they want they will leave no instructions of where to tip.
I learnt that when you phone said groundworkers they will ask you to tip in a place that is now inaccessible due to the fact that they have dumped their 3CX and dumper in the way.
I also learned that if you use your initiative and squeeze into the other site entrance, shunt about 6times and finally tip somewhere just as good, they will moan in the morning when they arrive.
I also learned that old tippers with nice high bumpers enable you to get into places that new ones wouldn’t be able to without causing considerable damage.
I have learnt that with my “Agency” boss that he takes exception to people leaving the agency, ie my chap, and deducts £300 from his wages and underpays his hourly rate! now owing £400 to us, and refusing to give it back as i quote " if you stay with me ill look after you, if you dont i wont" Also that he wants notice prior to leaving which he is not entitled to.
Also that i am now becoming very aggitated at the low level of driver skill and forward planning, stupid manouvres and blatant dangerous driving of car drivers but increasingly of HGV drivers which i would expect more of due to there training.
This has been a good learning week but a very bad working week
I learnt that the Immingham - Gothenburg ferry is as, if not more boring that watching grass grow. We resorted to a game of "guess how many unaccompanied trailers are on board , followed by trying to watch Danish TV and understand it
I also learnt that even in the depths of Sweden, if you ask a farmer for directions he will speak better English than the normal village idiots I ask, and be 100% spot on with them.
I also learnt that Hamburg is a great place to be weekended when there is more than one of you

just cos a trailer is parked in the "empty " trailer park, it dosn’t necessarily mean that it is empty. (always open the back doors and check)
how much of a muppet you feel when you open the doors of the “empty” to put it on a bay and meet a fully loaded trailer right up to the back doors!
Note to all those who will start with the “could you not feel the heavy trailer” brigade. The loads we take out of one factory are very light (storage containers made out of thin plastic) A full trailer might only be 2 ton load but high volume.
I learned it takes 3 trips to the dealership to replace a seal and speed sensor on the back of the ■■■■■■ on my truck.
Luckily I learned and remembered from previous experience ,never to leave a truck at the dealership(even if they insist) if they cannot look at it right away and so avoided loosing 2 days work .
I have also now learnt that being thrown from a horse, suffering head, neck shoulder and back injuries, being unable to move left arm at all, and suffering severe whiplass injuries ( hosp says) means that my boss who i have never lost a day in my life and covered all his other drivers, sacks me for having an injury and not being able to work

Bloody hell!!
What a ■■■■ your boss is?! Probably good to get away by the sound of it. But I know that’s not the point and I hope you will seek professional advice as to where you stand.
I also hope that your injuries heal quickly and fully.
