What are they?

Regularly, on the M1, I see a convoy of Police bikes and cars hammering along with Blues and Twos going, and stuck in the middle is a meat wagon (or prisoner transporting van thing or whatever you call 'em).

What’s all that about, are they transporting prisoners from one nick to another and someone is desperate for the loo or something? What’s the rush?

more likely to be some form off terrorist in prisoner ■■■■■■ van going to high court somewhere in london i’d presume.

i believe they have different catogories for prisoners going to trial, if it’s a terrorist or a big time gangland name who may be at risk of an attempted break out then they get the full treatment, i assume they’re exempt from speed limits as well cus they don’t hang about!

Its the Old Bills bacon sarny run. :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

If the wagon in the middle has lights on as well, I think you will find it’s the bullion run from London to Edinburgh.
Don’t get in their way, the plods are tooled up, MP5s or the new MP7s and sidearms.

prisoners dosent have to be terroists could be drug barons or gangland crims anyone nasty.

Like someone said elsewhere, I thought it was the MSA overnight parking money going to John Prescott’s house for his pie fund

they were on their way to arrest a trucker for going over 6 hours without a break

I’ve seen them a few times and wondered what it was all about, still don’t know.
And I’ve had a rollocking about breaking the six hour rule. Got a feeling there’s a couple more coming, a least it makes a change to get told off for not taking a break.

If it’s a Brinks 17 tonner its bullion from Bank of England

If its a Transit type Police Van its Catagory A Prisoner being transported to court or to another nick.

They normally train along the A1 western bypass at gateshead, first time I seen them I thought they were a bunch of idiots who’d got lost

Then speaking to my Brother who use to work on the Securicor Prisoner Vans before he went into the prison service (As a Warden) he explained that they have to work out a route at the last minute as the cops will radio and say a road is blocked, they need to divert around as quick as possible. There were 4 motorbikes and a van, They left the A1 at Team Valley and passed me again at the Angel of the North, 3 mins later they came from behind on Birtley High street and 2 mins later came back the oppsite way it was like the keystone cops Lol

For all they were training they stopped for nothing :open_mouth:

My wife’s lot use a Taxi for court appearences & a peaple carrier for transfers. (& half of her lot are absconders who would be regarded as posing a threat to the public & on life sentences.)
