It does apply to others in the economy. If companies want good candidates they need to pay the right salary. (I’m talking at an MPs level now now lorry drivers)I tend to agree with you but by dropping the starting Police Officers pay to £19000 pa (a drop of 4k I believe) it seems the government doesn’t
The police were enthusiastic in their support of the Thatcher government’s pilicies which have continued ever since. It doesn’t take a genius to work out that weak unions and de industrialisation would create an environment of low wages relative to prices therefore recession and decreased tax revenues.Which of course is what pays ( paid ) the coppers’ wages .
Some of us who saw what took place on the NUM picket lines in 1984 would say zb em they’ve got what they deserve and even £19,000 is too much and more than they’re worth and it’s great to see karma in action in that the police are now at war with their ( ex ) tory party friends. If there’s any money spare then maybe the fire brigade and ambulance services are a more deserving case.Although spare cash is likely to become increasingly rare and valueless as time goes on in the Thatcherite utopia.
