Welsh Border and Mid Wales Hauliers 1950's onwards

Followed this Dodge and another exactly the same into the show at Gaydon, will be posting pics like this over the next couple of weeks.

Nice ERF seen at Gaydon.

Left ■■■■■■ Scania 142.

Heavy haulage Volvo F12.

This AEC medium wheelbase tipper was coming in,as we entered the main show area.

A nice looking Leyland eight legger.

A couple more of William Gilder’s.

A Guy Big J chassis cab,for Dennis.

A Guy Big J chassis cab,for Dennis.

That one would have had Dennis carried off screaming

It had a Leyland 500 fixed head in it, common for Guy 6 leggers of that time.

Hi Trev,
Saw the Leyland badge on it,but didn’t have a closer look. Could be a nice little conversion job for Dennis. Some of the earlier six wheeler Big J’s this way had Gardner 150’s in them.
Cheers Dave.

I drove similar to both of these in the 60’s,only difference the Bedford TK seen here has a Leyland 400 engine,so the owner told me.

The Dodge and Fire Engine.

A couple with the same Ergo cabs, badged up differently.

An AEC Mercury once of Parry of Bayston Hill near Shrewsbury.

Another Shropshire lorry,seen at Gaydon.

When I was a young kid,in the early 50’s the bloke next door drove one of these Leyland Comet’s,it looked a big lorry in those days.

A nice old Albion.

B series from the same stable.

A pair of Swede’s parked together.

This pic illustrates how lorries have moved on in size. The plate alone on the Volvo must be worth a fair bit.
