Was that pic of the Scania taken in Febuary 2007 Martyn,or this year. Paul Griffiths had a couple of eight wheeler Scania’s with 470 engines about the same age as that one.
Cheers Dave.

hi dave that picture was taken about 2 weeks ago up my house the scania used to belong to phil herbert tarmac owner driver a driver i once employed seized her solid trying to get into reading sevices i got her home on lowloader and dumped her in the yard and started stipping her for parts when i found out how much scania wanted to rebuild her she was there about a year then a change of heart a friend of mine rebuilt the engine still cost arm and leg and my son painted it and there she is .

hiya,
Sammy Dog i know i’m ancient but i can never understand why people go to the expense of putting all those spotligh’s on the top of the cab, they can’t be lit up it’s illegal and cut the carrying capacity down, a cracking motor like the last Scania spoiled by that load of junk up there just can’t see the point, now Sammy put that shotgun down i’m only kidding.
thanks harry long retired.

A good solid moter for someone Martyn. I know a chap up this way paid £10,000 for an engine rebuild, but I think a new engine is over 20k.
Cheers Dave.

You could always be fitted with an autolube Martyn.

hiya,
Autolube would be of little use Dave, every time it came on cycle you would ■■■■■■, you’d be knackered after an eight hour shift.
thanks harry long retired.

now theres a thought dave anyway ill bid you goodnite im off to haverfordwest in the morning untill monday ive a computer down the caravan so ill be having a read but no pics till i get back have a nice weekend cheers martyn.

christ harry whats ■■■■■■

Hi Martyn, some nice pic’s there. The 8 wheelers look strange to me, since they went from 30480 to 32000kg gvw and moved the second steer axle back. If you look at Y6 on the previous page it really shows the effect it has on the geometery. What effect did it have on the handling and turning radius?
regards Paul

hi paul y6 the volvo had a nice ride and the steering was spot on ,the scania was diffrent the steel body scania had harsh ride and the r cab tarmac scania was a bit better the r cab used to have a lot of roll felt like she was going over on roundabouts etc onther problem with scania against volvo you had to have them steer tracked on a regular basis and you really had to work the steering wheel . regards martyn.

hiya,
Sammy Dog, ■■■■■■ er yes, if my grey matter is still working it was like warm treacle running down your spine and not being able to lick it off, and Dave i’m not trying to knacker your tipper thread up, “honest”, i’m going to leave you in peace now and allow the thread to return to sensible normality, who said “you cannot be serious”.
thanks harry long retired.
