Welsh Border and Mid Wales Hauliers 1950's onwards

another Steamer pictured by Brinley, at the Dorset Steam Fair.

Another one from Brinley’s collection, don’t know if this is from a truck snow, or a fuel protest.

Another pic of Brinley’s from Dorset, with a steamer.

Not sure where this is, all I know is that they are all lorry men.

Loading a piece of vintage farm machinery. A binder for corn by the look o f it.

Brinley Bowen and his mate, with loaded threshing box.

You are probably right Dave. Burgoynes have got some lorries pictured on the fuel protests. I was in the same form as him at Knighton School many years ago.
Cheers Dave.

Another pic of the Threshing Box.

Another pic of one of Brinley Bowen’s artics.

Last pic of Brinley’s pics that he lent me, will soon have some more old one’s to post on this thread soon.

This is not a tipper, as you can see, but its definitely the Welsh Border. Volvo FH, going eastbound M48 Severn Bridge

Was passing through Crudwell, near Malmebury Wiltshire last week,as we passed Carpenters yard, got my good lady to take this pic of one of their smart looking Scania’s. Often see Carpenters moters backloading out of the quarries this way, probably taking stuff back to Cricklade.

A couple of eight leggers of Carpenters pictured at the back of their yard.

A couple of eye catching Welsh tippers, have they ever ran anything other than Scania or Volvo ?

Sorry TIPIT, can’t help you on tat question, they are North Wales, maybe someone else from North Wales will be able to answer that one. Thanks for posting them.
Cheers Dave.

Another pic of the Severn Bridge.

I reckon it won’t be long before they close this bridge, more often than not, one lane is coned off. I remember as a kid going to Avonmouth Docks, with my Dad and seeing the work on this bridge going on, in the early sixties.

got caught nose to tail all the way across this bridge in the high winds in 1988 not a nice experience in a little 7.5 terrier :open_mouth: .i was never keen on it anyway  :open_mouth:

Quite agree with you Curnock, its a bit hairy, but they shut it now when the winds are high. I don’t like the Humber Bridge myself, always seems narrow lanes, and not much between the edge and the carriageway.
