Forest of Dean Pete, which is near the Severn Estuary. He probably thinks the Aust Ferry is still running.
Cheers Dave.

Main road motor.

One of Trucknet’s main posters. Andrew AKA pete359 own Peterbilt 359.

Dave the Renegade:

Handy for nipping onto the continent.

Hiya,
I drove one of these when the regular driver was taking his holidays, what a motor
and at that time it spoiled me for anything else my regular motor being an ERF it
having a 240 Gardner felt like a snail compared to the Roller engined Crusader.
thanks harry, long retired.

A bit of quality about Scammell Harry. I only drove an old Routeman breakdown wagon occasionally when I worked for C M Philpots.
Cheers Dave.

Possibly, but not “probably”!
That’s the second time in a month that someone’s posted a lorry with “my” plates on it. Are people mounting them on their vehicles in the hope that I’ll be lumbered with the speeding ticket after the camera’s flashed them?

Another Peterbilt.

Saw this and thought of you, Dave!

Don’t remind me Casey. I dad one of those with a 330 engine and a four speed box without a two speed axle, running at 14 ton gross, most of The time from Gore to South Wales loaded both ways and it was hard going. Thank goodness when I moved onto proper 16 tonners with two speed axles and more grunt. Even the six wheelers I drove would out pull the over worked TK.
Cheers Dave.

My old chap had one with a 300 in it! Luckily he never had to lug much more than a load of sheep or pigs.

The first one I had as a regular lorry belonging to William Powell of Kington only had a 300 engine Casey, but it did have a two speed axle, but was still hard work going over Cows Top on the A456 hauling to Kidderminster ring road. I did drive a TK for C M Philpotts occasionally with a 381 engine, but I preferred the KM with a 466 engine and two speed which was my regular lorry.
Cheers Dave.

A few of these at Gaydon two weeks ago.

Most of the American units were at the entrance/exit to the show.

A couple more from the States.

I never had the pleasure of a “big” Bedford engine, Dave. When work went a bit slack, the firm parked my S-type and I became “spare driver”. At least that meant I got to drive a chieftain and a Reiver occasionally. Then I left and went “proper” long distance driving, first in the Mercury artic (I only lasted the one day in the Leyland 600!) then with the new Big J, though it only had the ■■■■■■■ engine. I reckon somebody in ■■■■■■■ nicked the Gardner 8 before it was delivered!

An older one from the USA.

Forward control with a Shropshire number plate.

I was talking to Caddy1 at the show. I think this one belongs to his brother.
