Welsh Border and Mid Wales Hauliers 1950's onwards

Another of Gammond’s rigids.

Sorry to break into Eddie Gammond’s show motors, Dave, but I couldn’t help smiling at your comment about your 156bhp Sprinter. Some of us would have been glad of that hauling 24 tons back in the day!

I do find it ironic that in that pic of mine both those motors have the same size engine (2.4), but one is half the weight and twice the BHP! Funny old world.

My brother-in-law has a Morgan Roadster with a v6 3.7 Ford engine dew, and that thing has around 300 bhp and weighs under a ton.
Going back to Casey and the 24 ton wagons with less bhp, its all about litres in engine size. My 216 is 2.7 litre, whereas a lorry engine is anything from 7 to 14 litre engines.
Cheers Dave.

Moving up Gammond’s row at Hereford.

Correct, engine size and torque mean a lot more than overall BHP when your wanting to drag a heavy load around. To be fair though your Sprinter will be a 2T MGW off the badge? So shouldn’t be too shabby

A couple more of Gammond’s.

Moving onto a Scania.

Two of Pat Hazel’s motors.

John Blueeyes Middleton now drive this one for P M Hazel.

A lot of his wagons are double shifted Larry, keeping poultry farms topped up, but his fleet is well maintained.
Cheers Dave.

Some more of Micks fleet.

More of Micks Volvo FM’s.

Last of Mick Gwynns’ at Hereford.
