Correct about that Keith. Dave Morris ran several ex Bengry motors at one time, and had several in his yard for spares. He’s a legend in these parts, still keen as ever in his late 70’s and a nice bloke.

I was hauling to that job Keith, driving for C W Griffiths, firstly in a Bedford TK running at 14 ton gross, then a Commer Maxiload at 16 ton gross. Wrekin Construction were the main contractor, and we were taking two loads of sub base from Dolyhir quarry daily. It was a nice run in the summer of 1969.

The part of the ring road I was hauling to, was from the A456 roundabout for Hagley towards the lower end of Kidderminster Keith, down to where the roundabout goes off to Hoobrook Industrial Estate. I was driving for C M Philpotts out of the Gore in 1970/71.
