Hi Trevor,
Not sure how many they run on timber, but I’ve seen several. Originally based near Builth Wells, now based nearer to Brecon. I used to talk to Charlie Smart on the CB hen he ran tippers out of Llanelwedd Quarry many years ago.
Cheers Dave.

Cheers Dave.

hiya,
The body slides back when a couple of clamps are released, or at least
I’ve seen one like that, and this one looks similar, a must for surgery or
servicing, or could this one be demountable? doesn’t look like it to me.
thanks harry, long retired.

The luton
front panel is hinged at the top edge. This is swung outwards and upwards, and then held in place by bar stays
.
The horizontal luton
floor is then either slid backwards inside the body interior , or removed forwards , - not an easy job for one person.
There is now a space which allows the cab to be tilted in the usual method, providing the vehicle is parked on level ground to avoid cab sides
fouling the luton
inside edges of the horsebox/cattle box/furniture body.
One advantage of a luton
is that work can be carried out outdoors in wet weather ,- the luton
roof acting as cover.
Hope this answers your question.
Cheers , cattle wagon man.
