Are the tipper operators busy out your way, Dave? We’re flatout around here. I’m doing loads of work for customers I used to deliver to on Smiths. We’ve got a lot of new wagons coming too so things are looking good…

About 1,600 feet above sea level in that layby Harry. Its known as Radnor Forest and was at one time covered in trees. There are still several thousand acres of forestry just over the skyline. Have a look on google earth you will see how big the area is.
Cheers Dave.

Dont know about Dave’s area Nathan but Tarmac-Lafarge have recently closed the large quarry local to me, where Nigel (Armstrong) worked from. My old quarry (Ballidon, near Ashbourne) is virtually shut as well, apart from powders and blocks. The contract lads now run down to Mountsorrel (near Loughborough) and work from there or go across to Staffordshire and work from Caldon Low plant. So too answer your question, around here not much!

Pete.

Sorry I missed your post last night Nathan. Quite the opposite to Pete’s area, the quarries this way are flat out with tipper operators struggling to find drivers for night work and weekends etc. Also a lot of artics on regular work full time from these quarries. There are a lot of artics from all over the UK picking up loads as well.
A lot of new wagons have been put on the road in the last six months as well.
Cheers Dave.

I’m not in Llandrindod as much as I was a few years back Keith. I think a few wagons still go up the A483 through to Newtown and vice versa, but I would think the majority use the A470 especially after the improvements between Builth Wells and Newbridge on Wye.
Cheers Dave.

Followed this one on Monday from Broome in Shropshire along the B4367 TO Clungunford.

I turned left for Leintwardine at this junction. I would be interested in any observations, before I give my thoughts :exclamation:
