Welsh Border and Mid Wales Hauliers 1950's onwards

You wouldn’t want to take that through Kington, Dave

You wouldn’t want to take them along the bypass Caey. They had a dummy run up from South Wales ready to bring wind turbines through a couple of years ago and struggled in the likes of Eardisley etc. There is no way those things the Canadians are moving would be able to pass through this area.
Graham with Walters big Scania does well bringing big kit up to the quarries.
Cheers Dave.

What’s all this “by-pass” cr*p, matey? Don’t forget it’s at least twenty years since I was in your back yard!

The Kington bypass was built in the 1980’s.There’s loads of photo’s on this thread of wagons using it.There is a 100,000 tons of materials go out of these quarries most months and most of it goes over the border into England…
Cheers Dave.

it’s now official- I’ve gone completely round the twist!
I can’t for the life of me remember the Kington Bypass although I must have used it. My abiding memory of Kington is trying to squeeze through the main street on the way to the Gore. Remember the greengrocers which always seemed to have a lorry unloading outside it?

A couple of weeks ago on the A49 when the weather was warmer!

Motorway Remoulds had over twenty wagons running all over the country Charlie, some were away all week. They originally belonged to S W Brisbane who ran well over twenty wagons themselves until they sold them to Roberts in the late 1970’s.Dalgety ran quite a few, with M A Evans running about fifteen at one time along with A H Jones,Brick Bros and a few others there was a lot of lorries in Knighton.
I think Roberts ran about eighty wagons at their peak with depots at Plymouth and Swansea.
Very different now, only a few still running.
Cheers Dave.
