Hi Dave went in the attic the other day I brought some old truck and drivers down. Heres some stuff for all you people that like old ERF’s and Gardner engines Tony
Hi Tony,
Cracking story about Blower’s.I used to have Truck & Driver, but can’t remember that article, interesting stuff, thanks for posting it.
Cheers Dave.I thought you Shropshire/Welsh Border lads would like to know that the ex Blowers ERF 5522 AW “Border Queen” is alive and well in the Isle of Man,parked at the Transport museum at Jurby.I’ll put some pics on of her when I’ve got me 35mm film developed - not in the digital age yet
.The wagon was bought by JCK of Ballasalla, near Castletown, and repainted in their livery to celebrate 25 years in business. She’s also been re-registered,carrying IOM plates.
That’s quite a way from where she was at Halfway House,Shrewsbury Chris,at least the lorry is still around.
Cheers Dave.Hi great too know it has gone too a good home . I knew Reg though one of his daughters Heather. He did a real good restoration of the truck.
Excuse me for replying to an old post, but I went to Reg’s place roughly about 12 years or so ago and chatted to him about this truck. He was working on it at the time and I had a great chat with him, he even made me a cup of tea and I’d drop by occasionally to see how he was getting on. One of the nicest blokes you could ever meet, is he still with us? I do recall him saying one of his trucks was featured in a calendar at the time and I think he had one restored truck on his drive and the other he was doing up in his garage.
Again apologies for replying so late to this particular post.

Hi Cavlad,
I wouldn’t know if he is still around or not.Tony mercman who put the post on the thread about Blowers will probably know.
Cheers Dave.
Hi Dave, I thought that Blowers ERF had been sold recently. Corgi made a model of it a few years ago, I ordered one, they sent the Guy Invincible of Arthur Ducketts citing ERF out of stock. I kept the Guy as I’ve got a photo of it in a book.

Cheers.

It still runs out of Dolyhir/Strinds quarries on the Welsh Border near Kington. It is owned by C W Griffiths & Sons and now operated by Elwyn Griffiths a nephew of Clarence Griffiths. I drove for C W Griffiths years ago,but didn’t drive a Leyland for them.I did drive a Leyland with the Ergo cab for C M Philpotts from Kington hauling out of the Gore quarry.
Cheers Dave.
