A rear view of the big machine of Walters Plant, showing the big ripper.

That looks like quite an old machine, refurbished; A B-series?

hello muckaway,
The 245 is a D series,it came new to walters in 1991 ,they were good old workhorses.no fault codes or the like on those old girls, only required a full tank of juice and a willing driver,we still have a 245d face shovel standing in the yard but it hav,nt worked for a few years now.
regards graham. :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Will return to Graham’s normal drive later, here’s one to suit you Harry.
Description and details courtesy of Graham gah1950.

I was very lucky today to be invited down to Pontypool to have a look of this gem, the owner Mr Rob Wilson has put a lot of effort and expense to get her looking like this, when Rob asked me if I fancied a drive around the factory estate I jumped at the chance, she started life with Robert Wynn at Newport and ended her days with econofreight ,it is a left ■■■■■■ with an automatic transmission ,I must pay tribute to those heavy haulage drivers that used these monsters to move their heavy loads quite often in less than favourable conditions, a very big thank you to Rob and his lovely wife Lorraine for making our bacon sandwiches and giving us a very warm welcome.

hiya,
Remember this fine beauty when it was in “full time employment” did know it
had formerly been owned by Wynns, it’s a bit more up to date than the ones I
worked with, and automatic gearbox must’ve been bliss and no doubt the D R
hubs could have been utilised from the drivers seat, bet Graham was glad to
be using his Scania for that move though, but it’s a good some people restore
these old girls for the likes of myself and other interested people to see and
looking better than when they was working, lucky chap Graham.
thanks harry, long retired.

I wish we still had old girls like that running round here these days, even DAF 85s are getting rare!

Not in your area Dave but one of your regular companies trying to get through Lancashire unnoticed today.

Hi David,

Cheers Dave.
