That is an FFK Dave, not an FHK. Fitted with either a 5.1 or, more likely, a 5.7 vertical engine!
Pete.

I thought I was calling the one I drove by the right model name Pete.I always referred to it as an Austin FFK with a 5.7 undersllung engine.Got it mixed up after reading the posts about FFK’s and FHK’s.
Cheers Dave.
A couple of nice ERF’s.
This ERF looks like a showman’s vehicle.

I will have to say I drove an FHK then Pete, because it had an underslung engine with a flat floor with a double passenger seat and a grab bar in front. I was told it had a 5.7 engine.By the way it pulled and roared it must had something in it.It would blow TK’s and Thames Traders off the road.
Cheers Dave.

Would anyone have any shots of the inside of an FHK never saw one, I went in dozens of FFK’s and am I right in thinking some had rotary pumps and some in-line fuel pumps ?
We only had one FJ when I worked for a local scrap merchant TFD 101G, brand new it lasted 18months and 4,000mls after being overloaded, abused and run with blown head gasket it got cut up only the body was salvaged.
The local BMC garage said he could buy lorries off him anytime but would never give him any guarantee !
Someone (possibly Dave?) posted a pic of the inside of a FH cab on another thread Trev. The early FFK’s with the 5.1 engine had the old Simms inline pump with a pneumatic governor but later on they had the CAV rotary fitted as I believe all the 5.7’s did as well. The engines were developed from the Saurer diesel fitted in certain Morris Commercial models, presumably why the fuel pump was on the ‘wrong’ side?
Pete.
Thanks for that Pete, in the back of my mind I thought I had seen one with an in-line pump.
