I agree with Hammer; that body looks like a Boweld, more common with muckshifters than stone companies.

HI Dave.Sorry I have not put any photos on in a while.Been restoring Leyland Clydesdale tipper.Someone has nicked the two ali sideboards off body, really pst off.Makes you wonder whether or not to continue.Anyway found this thought you or one of the sages up north may be able to throw any light on this badge. My father tells me it was fitted on the bumper of a 1930
s Leyland Lynx belonging to my Grandad(E&O Griffiths). The lorry was involved in an accident and the badge was bent and the enamel damaged. The ARO may have been an early RHA??hiya,
There was quite a few hauliers running about with those on when i cracked away in transport back in 1957 i think you’re correct that the Association of Road Operators was something to do with the Road Haulage Association but I’ll dare bet I’m totally wrong.
thanks harry long retired.hi Rich & Harry,
You are both correct.
ROAD HAULAGE ASSOCIATION
Organisations of long and short distance hauliers amalgamated in the
early 1930s to form the RHA. This was joined by the Motor Hirers’ &
Coach Services Association in 1935 to form Associated Road Operators.
In 1945 rationalisation of transport operators’ organisations produced
int. al. a re-formed Road Haulage Association.
Cheers Dave.
Thanks for the reply Dave and Harry. If you dont ask you don
t find out .Regards Rich.
