Hi Dave
The old TK looks good she must have been one of the last ones, I had a new KM it was one of the the first one’s in Swindon and that was on an E plate.

Cheers

John.

TARMAC:
Its about time we saw some Bayston Boy’s on here…

Chris Middle’s unique (at the time) Volvo Six Wheeler with the sleeper cab, the “Tubtrotter” from an Ebbro Tipping Gear Photo Shoot I organised some years ago, pictured at Bayston Hill …

What does he carry with this truck? I would imagine struggling to get 16tonne on?

Hi John,
They made the TK up until 1975 as far as I know, possibly longer. The KM was a heavier version.I thenk they made both until the TL replaced them.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Dave they have quite a few motors mainly Scanias, all up to date and a tidy paint job, got a very nice yard too, never had any dealings with them they only came about when i was “past it” but did’nt like that type of work anyway, did a couple of loads of cars for another “now gone” company Glendennings i and could have loaded a two high load and done the roping and sheeting and been underway before i’d got anywhere near completing a load of cars, (Marinas in those days from Oxford) horrible job but i was rubbish at it anyway so i am no judge of that type of work obviously somebody must enjoy it, theres plenty of them knocking about.
thanks harry long retired.

Hi Harry,
I emember the Austin transporters coming from Longbridge twice a week to Llandrindod Wells. As they came out of Kington,((before the bypass was built ) they drove on the wrong side of the road,to avoid the trees overhanging and scratching the upper deck of cars.Never heard of them having any accidents, but they must have done that in a lot of towns and places throughout the country on that job.
Cheers Dave.

A very neat looking Atkinson eight wheeler tanker, from Roy Morgan’s photo collection.
