i clocked in this morning expecting to do some local drops in one of the four wheelers, when my boss shouted “so and so’s bringing your trailer get yourself a brew”… i’m thinking trailer… wtf he’s giving me a C+E drive
“easy load for your first drive. beer kegs for birmingham. back up then swap trailers for a load to liverpool”
oh my i’m thinking, this is what the last few months have been all about.
so… i spent my first C+E drive in an xf430 with 24ton of beer in the back. you must have been able to see my white knuckles all the way down the M6.
as i sit and type i’ve still got a grin on my face… i’ve only gone and realised my dream…
Brilliant , is this gonna be the norm now or was it a one off , you didnt mention any problems so must of been a good drive so able to impress the boss to do it again

hiya… i don’t really know is the answer to that one. i’m hoping for a permanent C+E job, but for now i’m made up that I got the chance to prove myself. i didn’t really have any problems whilst i was out although i know i was a bit tense and gave myself a proper headache… probably something more to do with forgetting to eat and drink… the only real issue i had was putting the wagon away in the yard last night, it’s pitch black at our place. it was just a case of shunt and get out and take a look a few times over.
is it normal to be paranoid about losing a trailer… i had to swap trailers for my second run and i must have walked round it half a dozen times making sure i’d done everything right.

LOL I think its on the lowest scale of paranoia, namely a general feeling of vulnerability
That sounds like a perfectly reasonable reaction to the new situation you find yourself in and I am sure it will pass. But never ever get to the stage where you become complacent, they taught us to do those coupling and un-coupling checks and those daily walk round checks for a reason. All you need to do is get to the stage where you only have to do it once
