weetabix

In the new weetabix (oatibix)ad i noticed today that they use the new Daf xf … Does anyone know if they used the truck becuase it was yellow or was it a clever marketing ploy by daf to advertise there new artic and not have to spend as much money on advertising.

yep i seen it as well and looks excellent.

the oatabix look quite tasty aswell.

Yeah its very sleek and well presented in it… Dunno about the food have trouble eating the normal ones lol.

I noticed the DAF.
When the Driver talks to the girl you cant miss the DAF mudflaps etc.
Nice bit of free advertising ?
Ford did this with the Sweeney, The Professionals etc. You always remember the car eh ?
I WAS going to buy a 4x4 to pull my caravan, but maybe I’ll get a DAF CF instead.
Or maybe a Consul Granada…

The Oatabix are fine too. Just the thing for breakfast in the caravan…

i tried the oatabix bitesize this morning and didn like them. :imp:

I can eat 4 of them .

oooooooooops, wrong product

I think the Oatabix are not the same as the Weetabix.

I personally didn’t like them.

Ken.

Good bit of promotional placement for DAF - most of the DAF demostrators are yellow.

Notice the driver getting out of the LHS on the adver = left ■■■■■■ maybe

Don`t worry, that guy is an actor & it never occurred to the film crew that the steering was on the right. I remember a scene with Niel Diamond in " The Jazz Singer." He was hitching way out West with his guitar. A trucker picks him up in a cabover . Then at the drop off the driver walks around the front of the truck & opens the door for the passenger who looks like a beached whale sitting there without a clue how to get down. Trouble was that it was the driving side.

Just seen the Weetabix Kid slamming the passenger door. Its got the twin mirrors . So the driver was sitting holding the fort…

I did notice the driver getting out the left sde. I felt like complete truck-geek though so I didn’t mention it. I’d’ve just gotten the eyeroll from my other half.

But in the opening clip the driver is sitting on the right…

semi flat floor maybe…

My guess is if you wanted to make an ad, you just ring round some truck makers and see who will lend you one.

I did think though the script was poor, i mean some bloke says “whats that?” most truckers would just reply “What the ■■■■ does it look like, it’s a lorry you gormless ■■■■■■■■

this jst made me crack up dunno y lol… .i felt like a bit of a truck geek too when i noticed it… glad i wasnt the only one

dennisw1 When the actor slams the door he slams it as tho he is walking past it. So I suppose Health & Safety wouldnt allow him in the cab! It makes you wonder about the accuracy of all those NASA live’ cams.

Great advertising for DAF considering most of the fleet is VOLVO & SCANIA
Great advert though
Th :open_mouth: :sunglasses: e advertising agency for VOLVO & SCANIA have some explaining to do over this

What I want to know is where can I get a good side-on picture of it ?

What I want to know is where can I get a good side-on picture of it ?

Just came across this thread again… I managed to do a model of the ‘O…’ Truck, sold it on Ebay to someone in the Kettering area…then got a heavy letter from the makers solicitors regarding the unauthorised use of their Trademarks and logos, and requiring information as to the source of the reference material as well as demanding I give them any other models Etc I’d made of the said Trademarks. I am also barred by pain of legal action from selling ANYTHING bearing these marks and logos.
Silly thing is that someone from Woefullbicks paid as little as £15 for this model (and probably didn’t even get a pat on the back for their efforts). They’ve then spent a few bob on instigating a solicitors letter to me (about 10 pages worth)!!. While I accept I used their marks without permission I could only muse in disbelief at the apparent pettiness in this, given that a major and world renown Chain Store actually commissioned me to produce their livery !. What a difference in thinking.
The upshot of it all is that the cereal maker lost a great (and free) advertising opportunity as instead of displaying their livery (Product) at various Model Rail exhibitions, including Glasgow Modelrail with an audience of about 15, 000, Woolworths, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Reed Boardall and Fowler Welch to name but some got the benefit of the free promotion by virtue of their liveries being on display on various layouts. It has cost the Cereal maker more in lost sales to my family and friends alone than it could have ever possibly cost them in permitting me to use their marks but it’s the principle that counts I suppose!.
