The grass is not greener etc etc and sounds like you are going to take substantial wage cut also so be careful what you decide

The guys on £16000 a year. Thats pretty much national minimum wage.

There are some shysters about but i’m pretty sure he won’t be taking a pay cut.

well 16k after taxes, so around 18500 i think i had on last p60

Don’t see why you would be taking a pay cut as the other poster said. Class 2 drivers can easily earn £22k after tax.

Stobart take one class 2 drivers out of their Widnes operation doing Tesco stores.

Im sorry i must of read another thread & posted on this one , something about somebody on 35k a year in an office or something thats why i said what i said lol.
As for this op lol , you will love it m8 , when a driver you will visit all these warehouses etc but then you will do your drop and then disappear so your not in the same place all the time, maybe you will miss being around people all day but you get used to it. As for the money you wont earn less than what your on atm . Good luck.

Yes, you will earn more. Maybe double your current wage. But it comes at a price. I’ve been shunting for the last few months 18:00 to 03:00. Can’t say I love it, but the pay is good and I know exactly what hours I’m going to do.

It’s given me time to save up for my telehandler license and when that’s done it will be goodbye to the road for good.

I got tired of the poor pay rates, the way we are treated, the long hours… the list just goes on. If you feel it is for you, then I wish you all the luck in the world.

I work for Royal Mail as a class1 driver, best job in the world bar none!!! (I’d been in social care management for 20 odd years previously)
Get treated really well by RM, the work is nice and clean, well organised, the pay is excellent and I love it. Do regular runs to Warrington Rail terminal, excellent bunch of workers and management up there. It is near impossible to get a start with RM without being employed by them already in some other capacity ie postman, even then it’s a long and tiresome process due to delivery managers being reluctant to release you. They do use agency drivers regularly but only through Pertemps I believe, so get signed on with them. As agency you are entitled to the same rates as permanent drivers after a few weeks work.
All the best with your future career.
