hi Carl It’s such a shame that EUG has fallen into this state. We saw it about a year after it was sold at Ingelton outside a garage but the years have not done it any favors. I hope the new owner puts it back in the pristine condition that you had it in. I do know where the other one is and hopefully will make an offer for this in the near future. I hope you and your mother are ok Peter

Hi Carl. the first link only shows up the front page, but the second link shows the van in question. Hope to see it on the circuit.

Just heard from my son who knows his Grandson, Bill Bailey (L.P.Bailey) died yesterday.

Hi,

I am a reporter for The Northern Echo and I am putting together a piece about WH Williams. Several of the former staff are planning a reunion in March. Does anyone have any old photos of the former depot or lorries or staff which I could use alongside the article? I could provide an acknowledgement if needed. Thanks.

Ian

Hi Carl surprise seeing EUG 702 after a lot of years it stood on the A65 at Ingleton for a few years next to our yard outside Goadys building he was never big on TLC not sure where he is now after the removals he took a share in Howarth Bros the local transport co.regards Bibs

My mother Elizabeth Doreen Williams (Doreen) sadly passed away on Monday afternoon, aged 88 year old.

Although not directly involved in the day to day running of the business, like in all family businesses she was greatly involved behind the scenes and tried to know as many of the staff she was able to meet. More than often when they called at my father’s home and she gave them a drink or more often just a cup of tea.

As most people on the haulage world know that it gets into your blood and amongst the things I best remember was her along with many of us picking up Fisher Price Toys at the Eden Arms roundabout on the now A167, but then the A1 when we had a curtain sider artic overturn , splitting the curtain and spilling about £40,000 worth of toys onto the grass roundabout and over the carriageway.

As I say she was not directly involved but if their was ever a whiff of trouble she was always there to lend a hand, but most of all be there sitting up waiting for dad to arrive back home after work no matter how late or how early in the morning, and providing an unmeasurable amount of support & help.

Hiya,
A sad time for you Carl, it sounds like your Mum was a lovely
Lady may she rest in peace, keep well my friend.

Its with great sadness I write of the death of John Willetts.

John had tremendous success with his Fireplace business, but for several years before those days, in the 60s he worked for us as a driver. His father had also worked for us (before my time). Most of the time John was with us he drove a Morris FG 2 tonner DPT100B, Which was fitted with a Marsden pantechnicon body. Often, well overloaded John did his bit to break the land speed record for commercial vehicles, by turning up the diesel pump, until one day when he made the fatal mistake of turning it back too far, which was discovered by a fitter who was unable to achieve 10 moh. Recalibrated and well sealed, slowed John down.

John Willetts RIP a very hard working lorry driver in his youth,
A very successful entrepreneur and business man in his prime,
