Tazbug:
The VOSA officer wishes to check my digi, any analogue charts I have still, my HA timesheets and weekly timesheets I submit to the 2 agencies I drive through. The meeting is now arranged for Dec 17th, it has been requested so VOSA can check that what I told them is true and i’m not in breach of anything.
Why would you do their leg work for them, they have the info so its for them to go check. You don’t need to do any of that. Up to you if you want to though. Wouldn’t be me. Take them a christmas card in the bundle too.
Tazbug,
I am surprised your employer okayed that request for additional driving role,
did they not mention ` a conflict of interest ’ ■■
How did you get round that one ■■
;
pm me the answer if you wish
.
Sounds like a nice bunch of work colleague/s you have
But given, i hear there is a bubble culture within and active encouragement to whistle blow.
I also wouldnt be surprised if your card is now marked and you wont be doing further “additional”, i could be wrong but doubt it.
Trux… we are permitted to work on our rest days. There is no conflict of interests here, the HA traffic officers are not out to gain from drivers of any sort (no really, we’re not!), we try to help where we can but are often prevented from doing so by Police, fire etc methods of operation. All I had to do was submit an official request (fill out a form…this is the civil service) which is then approved by a senior manager. Its my responsibility to ensure my extra work does not compromise myself, my colleagues (even grasses) or the Agency. Having a greater understanding of lorry driving and trucking generally actually assists the service and fellow truckers as I often advise from a truck driving point of view…when I can!
I am of the opinion the original grass was on the basis of envy…i’m 95% certain of the mouthpiece…slowly slowly catchy monkey
I agreed to the meeting purely to put this to bed…I’m a worrier didn’t want this to run after Krimble

Because not everyone wants to be a clever arse to try and prove a point. Taking the info and saving them the aggravation may just make some infringements get overlooked whereas taking your attitude may find them deciding to apply the letter of the law and doing you for driving for 7 or 8hrs without a break because you only took 44.5 minutes.
Tazbug …
Do you use a union ?
Are you a union member ? If so , Have you sought their guidance / advice on the matter ?
Sounds like you are going past the fact finding session and moving forward to the next step. (the naughty step )
Some may suggest you seek union / repesentation / clear advice at some point sooner than later .
I would also refrain from further open forum discussion , as its an open case and just in case the whistle blowers are monitoring ,
There are some of your colleagues and Managers who post and frequent and monitor this site ( not saying those would - but you cant be sure who is lurking and who may comment where )
As you stated yourself - you have already been whistle blown once . Be carefull
Tazbug:
Just wondered if anyone can advise me here…
My line manager has received an email from a VOSA officer requesting a meeting with me to examine documents/records appertaining to my lorry driving on my days off (this follows on from a work ‘colleague’ grassing me up to VOSA).
My question is…Am I legally obliged to meet this officers request? I have NOT been reported for any offences…ever! or had any contact with VOSA apart from a private phone call to this officer who is a ‘friend’ of another work colleague!
Thanks in advance
Tazbug
How did VOSA get your line managers address if your first job does not involve driving ? How would VOSA know who your line manager is ?

Its never held you back, even when you’re wrong which is often.

You really think it works like that ? Well it doesn’t. No one actually looks at the info and says oh we’ll go easy on him he’s been co operative. If they find a fault they’ll prosecute him. Simple. They’re acting above their station.

Company`s HR department i would imagine
They are all part of dft, are they not , so its not hard to work out
HR departments that have my name down are for firms I no longer work for, and vice-versa.
If I take a two week break from the places the agencies put me into, they’ve forgotten I exist in the meantime.
Point taken re monitering, i’ll make this my last post re this subject. I am a union member.
On my dcpc course today I found out that leave days count as 8 hrs per day towards wtd weekly allowances …
Tazbug
When you say leave days presumably you meant statutory holidays because they’re the only leave days that count towards the 48 hour average week, but as you only work to EU regulations on odd days the RT(WT)R won’t be a problem for you anyway.
Winseer:
Vosa have got nothing unless they know of a second employer who’s allowing a full time driver from somewhere else to run say, a 7 day spread, or more than a 90 hour fortnight for example.
Eu Drivers hours isn’t the only thing that needs to be complied with. The RTD/WTD average 48hr working week could be being breached by doing 40hrs for a non driving job then doing just one day per week driving for another employer.
neilf:
If as your original post states, you have approval from your main employer and you are sure that you have maintained the rest requirements as per EU tacho rules then you’ve nothing to hide.
Sorry but if he has a 40hr a week job and does 4 days per month driving he would be in breach of the working time directive because he would be exceeding the 48hr weekly average.
is this 40 hour week inclusive or exclusive of break?
I work a 37 hour week. take off of this 1/2 hr per day unpaid rest break and 1/2 hr paid rest break then I guess for the benefit of the WTD i work a 31 hr week. As said previously I work a continuous 6 on 4 off pattern (24/7 365) and usually only drive on my 3rd rest day
Personally I doubt VOSA are actually that worried about somebody doing a days driving a week and still getting a 45 hours break. But because he’s been grassed up they have to investigate it, to cover themselves if anything does happen.
Because if anything serious does happen his grassing mate will be off to the media with stories of HATO’s moonlighting and and how he was the hero who informed VOSA but they did nothing.
As for his grassing mate, I’m a firm believer in Karma, just takes a while sometimes.
