He means euroliner is different to a curtainsider/tautliner(which means the same thing) as they have the stupid planks in the side on euroliners.
even i know the difference between a euroliner and a curtainsider

no he’s saying there’s a difference between a curtainsider and a tautliner, basically he’s saying any curtainsiders with load bearing curtains is a tautliner regardless of the make and a curtainsider with normal curtains is a curtainsider. but then he got the hump with me when i questioned it as it was something i’d never heard of.

Having operated about circa 150+ BOALLOY TAUTLINERS over 20 years there is a very distinct difference between them (BOALLOY) and curtainsiders that were manufactured by many other firms i.e. curtainsiders were [zb] compared to BOALLY TAUTLINERS and I employed upwards of 200 drivers and shunters who would wholeheartedly agree with my aforementioned coments.Cheers Bewick.
but that’s not really what we’re talking about, do you call any trailer with load bearing curtains a tautliner and one without a curtainsider?

Yes. I can see the VOSA trainer now:
If it’s a Boalloy there’s no need to stop them, nothing at all will be wrong with it, ever. Anything else and get those lights flashing pronto!
Why do you always salute yourself at the end of a post? Are you a meglomaniac?
Not you again “Scanner”, Cheers is not “self congratulatory” it’s another form of goodbye or dare I suggest,a salute to the person you are directing the post to ! but you are obviously reading from a different page eh! very sad but whatever
Bewick.PS where’s me Horlicks Anne? I’m ready for my bed

In my day as a haulier there were TAUTLINERS and the rest were “curtainsiders” the load bearing curtains of which varied, and left a lot to be desired if put to the test wheras the BOALLOY was tried and tested and, accordingly, was head and shoulders above the “copies”,Yours faithfully,Bewick.(OK “Scanner”)

“Cheers Bewick” is a salute to Bewick. “Cheers, Bewick” is a salute to the recipient.
Helping your uncle Jack, off a horse is quite different from helping your uncle ■■■■■■■■ a horse.
Anyway, all that aside. Goodnight and I wish you a pleasant week ahead.
I do actually enjoy reading your stuff and seeing your pics on the old-time forum.

so would you now call any trailer with load bearing curtains a tautliner or only a boalloy?
alex is saying that any make of trailer with load bearing curtains is called a tautliner and any trailer with normal curtains is a curtainsider, basically.

i’ve no interest in your company’s working practises other than to establish if their use of the terms tautliner and curtainsider is something they do, or something everybody does.
the same goes for your work history and long may it continue unblemished fella
and i’ll ■■■■ off when i want, not when you want thank you very much, unless i get banned
That’s fair enough, your post with the link did come across as arsey to me. That’s Internet forums for you.
I actually take a great deal of time helping our new drivers gain confidence through knowledge rather than hearsay, sadly that isn’t the case for some on TNUK.
I appreciate your wishes for my career and I wish you the very best for your own, thanks

I’ve always hated the genuine Tautliner curtain ratchets, they’re bloody awful.
Best ones are those plastic ones until they break, especially if you have to use a bonding cord
Ahh, I always thought a tautliner was just another name for a curtainsider.
