Since it’s that time of year when I’m completing the latest quarter VAT return and submitting my income tax payment for the last tax year, I was just wondering how HMRC view all these freebies that get given out by companies in exchange for promotion on youtube; they can’t all be ‘on loan’. These must surely be benefit in kind. The sponsor presumably claimed tax relief on the goods so there must be a paper trail.
I don’t know mate. Feel free to chase it up if it bothers you that much.

I just can’t understand why people like robroy and dieseldog and few others are kind of representing this forum? I appreciate your posts when you give some professional advice but not that hate and aggression ( dieseldog ), hysteria and endless conspiracy theories ( robroy ), who is who, why he is posting, how many IDs he has, that’s just nonsense…

Don’t worry pal, won’t be commenting again on all this [zb], (unless it’s to people like you who have addressed me directly,)…had my card firmly marked, so lost interest.
Relief to everybody eh, but can’t deny these guys just get on my ■■■■ as much as I do on yours.
You will, sorry but you come across as obsessed! You’re almost keeping all these threads going single handedly.
Ya see, this post is the epitome of this forum and all it represents, it’s such a shame.
Don’t forget to shut the door on yer way out then, if you don’t like it
You’re obviously more used to being fawned over on your own types of site than criticism.
You’ll be better off providing materials for your fans in their [zb] banks.
See ya.
I don’t mind anyone disagreeing with what I do or say, I’m fully open to criticism, just don’t think it need saying with the amount of abuse we have received, every one of our responses have been made with respect to forum members.
It just seems no matter how civil we are, it’s met with pure nastyness.
Saying that, I have enjoyed the last couple of days engaging with members and I think I’ll pop in more regularly, maybe even become a regular forum contributor.

Please can someone wave the white flag now and let all this fizzle out? No win to be had on either side!
Agree…get rid of this thread
Or better still delete all the posts that are off topic so the few who insist on perpetuating the argument have wasted their time without wasting the time of genuine posters
But I doubt that will happen
But it ain’t exactly ‘off topic’ is it.
Some of these guys come on here bigging themselves up, like they’re a cut above, they’ve been challenged rightly or wrongly for not exactly pertaining to the law (personally couldn’t give a toss) and they are still arrogant enough to criticise the forum because a few of us see them as something different to how they project themselves and how they want to be seen…that’s the inoffensive polite version btw
The topic was about whether or not videoing comes under the drivers regulations, the rest of the posts are off topic and almost certainly intended to perpetuate the on-going argument.
As I said in one of the threads that was removed, I’m sure that immature little girl Trustred was trolling but whether or not she’s one of the so called “road legends” I don’t know for certain, happily she’s now on pre-mod so frankly I no longer care very much

You’re as welcome as any other member here, just learn to say [zb]ing “Volvo” correctly and I wont have to ban you.

Much appreciated mate, and Vovo is Dorset slang, I’ll be sure to prectice the correct pronunciation

Yep,.a combination of having nothing much to do, being bored, and having the nature of hanging on to stuff like a terrier if someone ■■■■■■ me off, …but the fact that you have quoted me only makes me reply even further …
One of best forum things I ever learnt was you don’t have to reply to every post that quotes you. Saves you a lot of time for more interesting things and let’s threads that really should die die. Note I’ve not quoted anyone here, it doesn’t require a reply from anyone. Call it a forum top tip if you will

I’ve quoted you just for the hell of it
But on a serious note Like is right, far too many people on here just cant resist a pop or bang the same drum or are unable to just move on by.
As for the legends… it’s a name, and as fellow HGV drivers I’d happily have them on here because its extra faces. It really doesn’t bother me they do videos because, as noted above, they can be watched or not. Nobody forces it on anyone.
Too many times its said on here that drivers never stick together… well look at all this for a start.

its only dvsa like all goverment bodies making sure theres nothing can come back and bite them.
they can never give you a direct answer only that in their opinion which is meaningless unless standing in court.
at least it clarifies that any youtube waste of skin relating to lorry driving can be reported by all and sundry to vosa to make sure their records are inspected covering periods of other work that will need to be accounted for.
that being the case,we might only see something thats worth the effort, and not just mildless crud churned out for the sake of swamping the place.
similar to 300 channels of crap tv when 5 decent ones would be better.

In your opinion, and it sounds like you think your opinion overrules anyone elses.
Freedom of choice pal, let people watch what the hell they want to, not pander to some random who thinks his word is gold.
Hi, I’d sent an email to the head honcho (ex vosa) that runs our transport last week.
His reply was basically that once a hobby becomes a paid hobby whether money or other benefits then it should be counted as work.
Any setting up of cameras and the physical act of editing and uploading content should be counted as other work.
He also reckoned Dvsa would be hard pushed to prove you had a second job and not recording other work unless you were daft enough to plaster it all over the internet and as someone else already said HMRC would be interested in any income or other rewards from a second job.

The key thing i took away from the message is that Its “advice from the DVSA” and is not necessarily the law.
anyway, it takes about 45 minutes to edit a video. once a week. ill be sure to add it on to my working time if required.
Camera set up is done whilst already on the clock

if your having to pay for your therapy out of your own pocket and not with the nhs then i would seriously consider asking for a refund.
anyway, which one of you two wrote that?.
