That’s a blast from the past…The Fountain Cafe Wellesbourne, It’s all houses now, suppose the M40 finised it off.

The Fountain Cafe was a proper old Transport Cafe, I used to use it 2-3 times a week in the 80s, run by Harry, great old boy always cheerfull & helpfull, good food with tea/coffee in nice big mugs!
Yeah I used it a lot had a few nights out there as well, always walked down to the pub can’t think of It’s name now.
Snap, I can’t think of it either! Only had a few nights out there over the years, was a bit too close to Oxford so could usually scrape hone!
I was living in Cirencester in those days, so the same as you I could have scraped home, but that wasn’t the best place to be then 
so I tended to avoid it when the chance came up. 
Did anyone ever diesel up at that service station at Childswickham/Wickhamford on the A44 between Broadway and Evesham? Our Fish Hill wagons used to get grief from the grumpy operator there about “diesel on the cheap and not buying anything else”… When he stopped selling fuel to turn the forecourt over to used cars, he rang our TM up to ask any of our lorries passing to stop by and use his diesel up. We didn’t oblige but I tooted him several times when working in the area
