Using trampers units

DaiDap:
When i worked for Eddie it was very unusual for my unit to be taken out, but one of the few times it was my bridge map and a couple of A-Z’s were stolen. The thief replaced them with a dog eared copy of fiesta magazine.

Git. They were worth at least a Mayfair

Did you need a ruler to open the pages?

If you leave your tramper full of ■■■■■■■■■■■ & crap, the night or weekend men will not want to use it

lmao it wont be the first

If I’m away for the odd day or two the truck stays in the yard, if it’s for a week or two then it will get used while I’m away. That’s fair enough, you can’t have a truck standing around these days, sad as it may seem I do dread coming back to find big dents/scratches as it’s a tidy truck and I’d like to keep it that way:?

I do strip all my gear out now though, couple of years ago I came back from holiday to find someone had rummaged through my things and taken my works phone charger, some pens and a book of worksheets, petty stuff but to go through someones gear is not on, firm sorted out replacements but i still take everything out.

Jase…was at our depot last night just down from your place and as i turned to leave the office to make my way to the fuel island, noticed ‘one of yrs’ in the yard…no intake Sundays so was obviously lost…guy came up the stairs into the office and asked if i knew where the unit leveller was■■? Who? ‘Unit leveller’ he replied. Turn right out the gate, next gate on the right, ask the guy in the gatehouse, guess he’ll be a local so he might know

I drive my cousins trucks at the weekends and its good to know that when i jump in the cab i know they will be clean and have everything there incase i’ve forgot something of my own eg pens, maps and gloves…Sometimes i have to clear some space for my kit but it is always put back, the regular drivers are always happy for me to drive their truccks as they know everything will be as they left it…I worked dayshift at Carlisle for Stobarts for 8 year and the day drivers had their regular unit but any night driver would get in it to do a shift, done my heed in to be honest the [zb] would go through everythin, feet prints on the dash muddy feet prints across the cab (pre flat floor days) ■■■ ash everywhere…Use to go through a tub of febreeze every 2 weeks…Fair dues to Stobarts though the trampers motors did’nt get used at the weekends…

If I use a tramper’s vehicle I treat it as his/her home. I don’t rummage through lockers or anywhere else, just like I wouldn’t do it in someone else’s house, I have my own “everything” because even though I am a day driver I never know what might happen and where I might have to spend the night.

It always makes me laugh to hear drivers say " I’m a day driver I don’t do nights out". I got caught out once and slept in a cab with no bedding or anything else, I only made that mistake once, now wherever I go my bedding etc goes with me.

The only nights out I do are at licensed premises

My truck gets used when I am at home, it was used Friday night after I got back from a week away. I remove my bedding and store it under the bunk and other stuff, such as my inverter, washing gear and so on, gets locked in the lockers over the windscreen. Other stuff such as my laptop I take home with me along with my dirty washing. the only thing I leave out is the defect book. Takes about 5 minutes when I get back to the yard and the same when starting work.

dont rub it in just cos you have room under the bunk

my truck never gets used at the weekend. but like now when i’m off, or even for a day off, they get an agency driver in, which is fine wheels have to keep on turning. but after i left most of my stuff in when i took day off once and some of my gear got tampered with, I now gut it. call me picky but that includes pens gloves, and even any company equipment that i’ve had to sign for( which eveything except the truck), when the releif driver get in its baren, like a new truck empty except for a fuel card( i didnt sign for that). once bitten twice shy. I’ve got it to a fine art now, start packing during the week, and by friday or whatever day i’m stopping I’m barely in the yard any longer than a normal finish.

i work a 4 on 4 off shift and quiet often have a differant unit one day to the next so i take everything out at the end of my shift or if i change unit at all the thing to remember is the unit belongs to the company and they will do with it what they please and why not its theres !

Thats ok about not rumaging if the things that should be in the truck are where they should be. I occasionally work out of the same depot as Paulb, and last Sunday had a trampers truck, doing my checks I couldn’t find the dart and severn tag. When I informed the office they said to check the lockers, and sure enough they were under the bunk, along with the spare rolls for the tacho.

I do treat the trampers trucks with great respect, I was a tramper for 10yrs so know what its like.

not all units come with the tags and dont no why he hid them under the bunk they carnt be used on any other vehicle unless thats what they do at that depot and as for spare roll just ask in the office they will supply you with one. i have to get spare roll every week cos i think the agency drivers write war and peace on mine and there that lazy they rip a small strip and stick in in the lip so they dont have to replace it, its second nature to do all these things mentioned before the start of my week.
