Use your phone- lose your licence- (Scotland)

tachograph:
As there’s no real difference between talking on a hands free mobile devise and talking to someone in the back seat, or the front passenger seat for that matter, presumably you would also like to see it made illegal to talk to passengers unless the handbrake was on ?

There is a lot of difference and its been proven by the research place at Loughborough

The person in the vehicle has at least some idea of what is going on around the driver whereas the person on the other end of the phone has none

schrodingers cat:
Can’t wait for this

TM “Are you going to make your next drop on time?”

You “No”

TM " Why the [zb] not?"

You “Because you rang me and I had to find a safe place to stop so I could call you back”

Best one is when they ask you where you are instead of using tracker. You’ve then wasted time coming off motorway etc.

They normally call me on my own mobile, which is not hands-free, rather than using the cab phone which is.

if it’s safe to answer, then i’ll answer it. if it isn’t, then i don’t.
even before they brought out these silly rules i did it that way.
if they want to ban me, then they can ban me.
i’ll just carry on driving.
they don’t know my capabilities as a driver. one rule for everyone dosn’t make sense.

ROG:
I wonder how many would use their mobiles when driving if the part of the punishment was instant crushing of the phone including the SIM card ?

Thats a actually a really good idea.

shytalk:
Kettle calling pot… the thing everyone fails to argue about is its called MOBILE PHONE, police use them when driving

No they don’t. That thing made by Nokia strapped to their breast is both a 2 way radio and a mobile phone.

Whether it is a mobile phone or a 2-way radio doesn’t alter the fact that it can be a distraction whilst driving.

Conor, all im saying is why call it a mobile when its obvious you cant ! is the cab phone mobile or not ? its a cab phone you will still get done by plod … so if you cant use it in the car or truck is the definition of mobile walking ? so in theory you cant call it a b…d mobile… definition of mobile is ? :unamused:

please mention 1 that wasn’t an obvious wind up.
i bet you can’t.

I say impound the vehicle they’re driving for a week, regardless of whose vehicle it is :grimacing: . I have my personal phone blue-toothed to the pratnav, a cab phone and they’re one touch answer. If I need to use the grey matter (such as extricating oneself from a dead end country lane) then I simply tell whoever to call back in 5, or the claims peeps to [zb off], simples. What really takes the proverbial is those (hgv & car drivers alike) who have the facility to do handsfree (through sat-nav or audio system) and don’t use it.

Just make sure you dont get caught. Use your curtains wisely (wutang)and keep an eye on your mirror when on the phone(dodgy unmarked cars). And remember to dim your phones light.

one of our guys got caught, 14 day ban and told that next time she’ll give him 60 days ban (
