Hi Neil, it’s going really well, once you get sat in the driving seat it feels “high and heavy” no doubt that it’s a cat C. I’m starting to understand how the pay works too, I did a 10 hour shift today but should get paid for 15! I still don’t know which truck I’m getting but have been told it’s going to be a Daf and should be ready for me to have my first day out working on my own on Friday. I’m really enjoying it and am now thinking I’ll stick at it for quite a while and will be able to save enough to go do C+E with Peter Smythe later this year and after that could still stay there waiting for the C+E licence to mature, hope to see you at the base one day.
All the best mate
Rich

Before this topic is relegated to the depths of page 2 or 3 I just want to say THANK YOU to everybody who told me to go for it. I think it’s going to turn out to be a really good little number and the people I’ve met all seem very helpful and friendly, there’s even a boss who apparently backs his own workers over the clients and I was told that by a worker, not the boss.
Best of all though

God-■■■■ it! I feel like a trucker.

Glad to hear its going well and it’s worth sticking out for a while. I wasn’t sure I wanted to stay after the first week but now I actually enjoy most days… You get to know the sites and a few tricks and soon it becomes good money for little work…the guys in the office are spot on and will spare the time to help you out.
I’m sure we will cross paths at some point, what area will you be working?

Not sure at the moment but I guess it will be the same as Lee as we are both parked up and based at the office, I think there’s one other guy working out of the main base too but I’m not sure of his name. I think it’s also possible I may end up passing out spares from base to the other drivers like Lee did today on the way to a job, so I may get to meet you that way.
