Down here, I specifically sign up with friday-sunday in mind, then get told it’s only monday-friday 6am starts for crap money.
The “upto £13ph” that reeled me in was of course only for the sunday rate that never exists.
Monday-Friday work is £8ph if you’re lucky! :imp:

I must admit if a agencey get lippy I accept the shift and don’t bother to appear for it,serves the right for being tools and serves the client right for not taking on there own staff

Thats a really ■■■■ attitude mate

The reasson I do this is because they Try and get you on a nightshift for 7 quid a hour and when you speak up they get nippy, no iam afraid not.I know there a needed evil but that’s why there’s is no loyality as they have none for me

When you speak up

They offer you crap rates and you say no so what’s there to speak up about

I was upfront with the agencies I deal with; told them I have other occupations other than driving and will frequently be unavailable. They seem to accept that, I tell them when I’m free on a weekly basis, if they can fit me in great. They will still phone to try and get me to take a last minute shift (understandable, if the job has just been dumped on them or another driver has cried off etc). At the moment, I turn down more than I accept as I’m busy with other things. They don’t have an issue with it and keep ringing, happy days.

if you don’t like the rate offered, say no. i don’t see how accepting it, but then not turning up can be better for anyone  it’s one thing wanting to ■■■■ someone off, but to damage yourself, you might want to check yourself with a screw driver fella

i don’t get why people bang on about loyalty, loyalty to me is for family and friends. eg. 25 years loyal service = couldn’t be arsed to get a different job or couldn’t get a better job. what’s loyalty got to do with it?

What is all this “Loyalty” talk anyway?

Surely, when one expects “Loyalty” from an agency, what we’re really asking for is to be higher up the pecking order than the next guy… Not very loyal to the fellow driver now is it?

All I ask for is “everything does what it says on the tin” - which sure enough, does present problems with some agencies who don’t like to pay on time, don’t pay the verbal amount they promised, and tell habitual lies in order to make you take poorly paid shifts at the last minute.

There’s even the "Do this £6.50ph one tonight as a favour, and you can have Fred’s vacant double bubble doddle shift on Saturday… Saturday comes, and Fred is doing it as normal, not actually taking the day off in the first place! :imp:

Anyone still paying to get a shift via the umbrella or salary sacrifice system?

when i tell my agency "im off galavanting" for a few days, they know im unavailable…but when im available..im available.
no drama
