Problem is drivers think they are worth more than what they are, advertise it around the polish commmunity, ive just taken on a pole and he is far superior in his work and apperance than other applicants that i had for my driver vacancy, uk drivers need to start waking up a bit.

Well, you would say that, wouldn’t you?

sir_winston_churchill.jpg

marcelleke, in answer to your question, i make no savings at all, he earns £130 for a 11 hour night shift, 5 nights a week, the same as iwould of paid a uk driver but no drivers near me wanted the job, all said not enough money. If paying that sort of money makes me a skinflint boss as i was made out to be then i am a skinflint. bring on the poles

This is from the bloke who only lasted 5 weeks at DBC because he couldn’t hack it

I wonder what type of house you could buy in Tilbury for £77,350?

Well assuming you were lucky & had 25% dippy to put down as there’s not many, if any, 100% mortgages around at present, so lets say borrow 75k & spend 100k.
A quick butchers on Rightmove brings up either a 2 bed flat or a 1 bed end of terrace house - probably not in the best areas, although I didn’t look into that in detail.
Flats & mortgages are often not the best of bed fellows.

A repayment mortgage payment would be circa £380.

To add to your comment Driveroneuk, To rent a house in Tilbury it will cost £560 PCM for a 1 bed house, rising to £725 PCM for a 3 bed house, So being so lucky to get a 25% / £25,000 deposit in the 1st instance would certainly be a problem.
100% mortgage LMAO at that, I believe that they are no longer available.

Maybe the driver could do a house share, but if you have a family, then this job is just another kick in the teeth for professional drivers

I have noticed that a lot of jobs are unsocialable as in having to work weekends, what about the family, Oh the companies DO not care about drivers with family, either you take the job or be unemployed, and probably be divorced or single and the Companies would be happy so you can work longer hours to pay maintenance etc

Is this based on a first time buyer who happens to have a ready made family?

What happens if you already have a mortgage in Tilbury ?

If your bringing home 400 a week your hardly in poverty

£8.50 an hour is top dollar good money where I live!

8.50ph for nights?
Thats bad.
I’m a london bus driver, if I do nights I get 12ph.

People complaining about £8.50 p/h - I drive coaches for £9.50 p/h and its hardly hard work though

i earn £28.44 per hour driving a train, i hung my truck driving gloves up when i got this job.

And doesn’t that sum up this industry in one post.

Truck driving is hardly highly skilled, yet most drivers seem to think they deserve a salary equivalent to a surgeon.
44 Tonne Ton if you are that ■■■■■■■ clever, write your business plan, nip down the bank and buy your own truck, no doubt within a couple of moths you will have fleet, with all the drivers on £25/hour. Muppet!

To be fair, some of the quotes sum up the British work force as a whole not just a few truckers. Think their owed a living and won’t work unless it meets their own personal conditions and self worth. :unamused:

A bit of a sweeping statement but I have to agree.

Most of the drivers I worked with thought
that £9.50 an hour was attendance money.
One or two eeven thought they should be paid £9.50
an hour to stay at home when there was no work.
(£9.50 in this area is above average.)

Many of them still can’t understand why the company
couldn’t afford to employ them and closed the operation.

sounds like a steady job with ok money, £8.50 is a very good hourly rate in the yorkshire area. i think all the negative comments on here have frightened off topmixer but i would like to know the overtime rates and night allowance before i make my judgement.

i think you have jumped the gun making accusations about the rates and jobs before you know the facts.all i know its a job out of tilbury driving a 26 tonner fridge on £8.50 an hour. no mention of overtime or n/o money.
