Oh no it hasn’t!

Count yourselves lucky with the UK snow , most has probably thawed by now . We had a couple more feet yesterday , trouble being we’re in minus temps for another month . All morning to clear the crap away , 4 of us with shovels, a snowblower , and finally a bobcat . Oh the joy [emoji38]
I made it to Davidson last night before calling it a day, zero visibility made for a fun drive from Saskatoon. Now I’m sat in Regina, can’t go past Whitewood as there’s a no travel advisory and that means all LCVs have to park, the Trans Canada Highway is shut in Manitoba anyway, so I wouldn’t get home. Got the pox of it now, this trip has been a nightmare, took a set to Edmonton fighting the wind all the way, then down to Calgary which was ok, then single to Lethbridge and Medicine Hat in glorious sunshine, then to Vancouver with heavy snow from Banff to the top of the Coquihalla, proper highway through hell stuff, never seen so many crashes in one day, it was carnage. Coming home via Edmonton has been heavy snow all the way with one road closure after another. And the icing on the cake is that I’ve lost so much time that I need to turn and burn when I get home. Living the dream lol.

It’s pretty crap I have some local drops in the morning = lots of digging to tanks etc , then a Winterpeg run . Highways should be better by then , if not I’ll plow my way home for the night . If you’re at the Husky , get over to Browns supper house out the back exit , great food .
I was thinking of Zam Zams next door, bloody good food in there too. Very clean and super friendly.

I do, nearly ten years old and I could open my upstairs bedroom window and touch the snow,we could not get out of the house at the back, and my dad dug a tunnel for the first 15 foot, and then a trench out to the outside loo at the top of the garden. This was nearly 50 foot from the house!
The compacted ice from the drifts was still up against the house in May.
I’m currently reading the Kenneth Williams’ diaries, and on a late 1962 winter day he wrote that even though the snow is a foot deep on London roads, the buses are still running!
Now we’ve had a few inches, and the supermarkets are out of bread, milk, and eggs within 4 days.

I wonder how much of that is down to the press causing panic.
It’s got more to do with the me me me attitude of today than the press. I saw a story about a guy from a corner shop going into a supermarket and filling a trolley with milk, obviously he marked it up and made money out of it, at first I thought ‘the cheeky ■■■■■■■■ but then I thought about it and I make him right, if people are stupid enough, why not take advantage. Of course it could be that it was a humanitarian gesture and he was making sure the local old dears could get milk without trudging to the supermarket, but I’m willing to bet he was just making a few quid.

I too heard a story.
A driver moved some produce into a shop so people didn’t have to walk out to the farm to collect it. Bet he didn’t do that for free.
In fact he was moaning he didn’t get paid enough! Wonder what forum that was on?

A sad state of affairs Franglais, although this week I have witnessed lorry drivers helping each other to get unstuck from the snow half a dozen times at least.

I’ve heard that still goes on.
Amazing when they could be turning a profit from it. Fools

I’ve got a couple of mates that drive tow trucks, I always send them photos or videos of this kind of thing, titled ‘who needs a tow truck’ they usually send a two word reply ending with “off”
