Types of 7.5 ton work

I think it’s an unwritten rule that 7.5t and below gets dumped with as many drops as they can fit on it !

When I did agency I had upto 20 and what a pain when you get to some places.

Firm I now work at have 7.5t buts it’s all pallets and very very rarely did I have to handball. Forklifts were at all places.

Since I took over the 26t I’ve had a few handballs but nothing hard and far less drops .

So the type of work is there but not that often they come up. Think I was lucky to get this at the time .

Keep looking and best of luck.

Thanks, and yes I will.

A few of the 7.5 tonners where I work are longer than others, the last one I went out in was 12m long. All of the places I have to drop to are residential and some are very awkward, small cul-de-sacs etc but no mishaps so far touch wood. Like I say its all the lifting and dragging stuff about that does me. Especially when the Couriers aren’t home when I get there and I have to drag/carry all their parcels and sacks down a long driveway (■■■■■■ and blinding all the way lol :grimacing: )

You could always check they’re in first, might mean 2 trips to get parcel or just do that for the heavy ones?

Be easier for you till you find something else perhaps

Usually the couriers are there ready and I pass all their parcels and sacks down to them off the back of the truck but there is one who on the odd occasion isn’t there and I have to get everything off the truck (no tail lift) and do several trips up and down his wonky driveway with a shopping trolley he provides lol. Not allowed to take anything back undelivered, only all the returns. It will have to do for now, until something else comes up. I’m getting experience and its keeping me fit I guess!

Shame your not in Yorkshire, one of our new drivers quit yesterday so firm will be replacing him ASAP. To be fair they’ll ask for cat C probably even though he was 7.5t as it gives more flex for when us 26t are off.

I wish I was in Yorkshire! I live in the Fens and its horrible, flat, bleak and desolate. How I crave hills!
Aiming to book C training in April.

Not be long till you go 1st to 3rd in your car & skoosh your windows trying for the cc when you aint got nun
