Where would I get one of these droppers?

Look on eBay or elsewhere for a “24v 12v converter”. But make sure its big enough. 1600watt seems a lot to me tho. That`s half an electric kettle aint it?
Jesus, remember 999 for the fire brigade
Don’t mess around with a 12v amp from one battery. You will need a dropper or 24v amp, wired to the main battery feed into the cab, which should be somewhere on the bulkhead. Don’t use the hella plug, as the wires on the back won’t be man enough to cope with the draw. May I suggest using high power wire, something like spotlight wire to the dropper or amp.
After some of the replies I’m just gunna book it into the auto spark place we use an let them deal with it an then will know next time what to do I’ve got all the right wires from halfords proper wiring kit one of the blokes at work has had a few ideas but don’t trust them an don’t want any thing go up in flames think I would loose the bonus for that thanks for the replys will let you all know next weekend if I get it booked in

Id say that
s a good choice. 1600w is no baby.
…
Subs arn’t really about volume they’re about feeling the depth of the music.
Real music too not beat/rap stuff, if you have a copy of the original soundtrack, Sarah Brightman, Michael Crawford, of Phantom, try listening to it through a serious system including a sub.
Brings joy to your soul.

Think youll find a Hella plug on the passenger side of the floor level tray of a 105. That
ll be 24v so simply plug in on of the 24/12 droppers Juddian mentioned. Assuming its a high enough rating that
ll be a fused supply wired thro the key. And easier to remove when moving on. If not a high enough rating, then back to original plan. I would have doubts about that socket`s rating tho, 1600w at 12v seems a big draw??Stop me if I
m wrong here but 1600w at 12 volt would mean drawing a current of 140amps?? That can
t be right can it? Someone please tell me where I`m going wrong. Normally enough volunteers to point up mistakes here.
Not far out. If it was flat-out it would draw around 120A. As with installing a car system keep the ground from the amp as short as possible. And it’s all big cables,or you’ll get a visit from a shiny 18 ton Dennis with flashing blue lights
Earth is earth, so if this is a wind up it’s a good one, if it isn’t then OMFG! Seriously? You know that little about electrics and you still think you’re competent to wire in an amp to somebody else’s lorry!
Take it to a professional auto electrician please. I could walk you through the installation step by step, but it’s clear that you lack the basics, so you will end up with a far safer and better sounding system if you go to someone that knows what they’re doing.
My MAN had a sub behind the drivers seat. Compared to the Merc I have now, it was bloody brilliant.

MAN’s need anything that helps, they fit the tinniest basic speakers (and mount them in flimsy door panels that offer no baffle effect whatsoever, might as well cable tie 'em to the curtain rail bare) and least powerful radios in the fleet stuff its been my displeasure to not listen to.
Even the good old F90 had silly little speakers mounted facing the windscreen in the front edge of the dash, utterly hopeless, but then slipping it up into top gear at around 70 you didn’t concentrate much on what the radio was playing at the time.
Our place must have specced them up with some premium sound system or other then. As my 11 plate XXL blows my spon new Actros into the weeds. Zero bass whatsoever.

1600w @ 12v would draw around 133amp at 24v would be in the region of 67amp
Gonna get warm !
DO NOT run it from one battery, it will kill it, someone had done this with one of my trucks, get a good 24v dropper 60amp (depending on amp size) and run it that way direct from the 24v in the fuse box
