I enjoyed your diary Orys, it brought back happy memories, not of Poland, never been there, but of hitch hiking in my younger days before sleeper cabs when it was commonplace for drivers to park up on a ‘dodgy’ and get a lift home for the night.
The last time I did it, was about 10 years ago, from Bordeaux back home here. I had to leave my wagon at a routier for the weekend so got a lift straight away from a driver. He dropped me just before Périgueux on the old N89 then just by-passed by the autoroute, so was prepared for a bit of a wait, but the first lorry to come along and respond to my disc - was one of ours.
Dropped me right by my car in the car park.
I always carry an old tacho disc (hope the newbies with digitals recognise it ) everywhere I go these days, just in case.
