So hard to tell Harry. The bloke with his hands on his hips & his back to the picture right in front of the 89 looks a bit like Clive White!

Tall guy with tash! Are you thinking of Ray Trusscot Harry?

Leggetts was another regular i used to see. Was amusing to see the Volvo F12’s and f89’s “waiting” for the SLACK ATKI’s to catch up!
dont know where this was taken, reckon it was somewhere in Swiss.
Anyone have a clue?

Muttenz. The driver in the check shirt was a Brummie & became an O/D.
The guy in the F12 is Dave Jeffries.

That looks too dirty to be Jeffries motor Harry! Trying to read the plate in the picture -Dave had UMD 36S i got a picture but not very good
0
Dave used to buy the daily paper each morning & put it straight on the cab floor to keep the footwells clean

Yeah, you probably right. There’s no air horns or wheel trims. It could be Ray.

Stewart xxxxxx was one of the other Ferry Freighting drivers along with Billy Moore.

Plus its an RHD F10, not an LHD F12

“Turn left at Macon” and you’re on the way to the Blanc…
it must be my age but i cant for the life of me, remember the right order for this set of photos, so id appreciate some help

courmayeur is in the Aosta Valley which happens to be in Italy. Your snap is approaching Monte Bianco from the Italian side.

Top ones spot on but that bottom ones been taken from the national that runs alongside the a40 and looks like he’s heading away from the Blanc towards nantua then up over the old cerdon past the lady of cerdon

HI… new on here and not a driver but enjoy seeing the exchanges and pics of old trucks/trailers.

I have been working in International freight, transport and forwarding since i was 16 (i,m 54 now) starting at 16 with Interlink Forwarding and i was one of the founders of the Leeds depot in the 80’s for Cavewood, working as Eurpean operator and Traffic manager, i am surprised at the lack of photo’s/posts ref Cavewood who were one of the innovators of European groupage servcies to the continent, so if anyone has any then that would be appreciated.

i worked with some of the most experienced drivers in the North when Cavewood took over the remnants of ‘group company’ Cawthorn and Sinclair Ltd, we had, Eddie Charlton, Keith Tindle, Brian Robson, John Dutton, Ron Taylor, George (Geordie) Longworth, Kenny Potts and what they didn’t know about european trucking in those days (much harder than now !) wasn’t worth knowing - the stories were amazing ,
many a happy hour spent in the pub with them !

cheers

PS, always attatch the cotton to the far side of the holder, (I believe) it came away from the screen easier. :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Hi Gary here is a pic of an ex cavewood LHD F12 i bought second hand in the early 80’s,i know its not in cavewood colours but its something. We had it converted to a six wheeler in 1983 when the weights went up,Hartshorn from Birmingham fitting a Granning lift axle this we also did with an F89 ex Geoff Gilberts from Spalding area, this was a cheaper option and as there were not to many 6 wheelers around second hand at that time, the reg was HWL 972S so hope it rings a bell for you, cheerio for now Buzzer.

does anyone recocnise this old bus. remember picking up a yung old boy in Northampton, David Abbott
said take him with you to Spain he wants to take some photos of trucks. So I did and he did.
On the way home we were overtaken by a fancy Dutch truck he hung out of the window to get his pics,
The Dutchmans seat cover handed him a pic of there truck as they went by and vanished into the distants.
I wonder if he remembers ? Jim
