What a great thread, really rubbing in what i missed out on being 20 years to young!! 2 great pictures on this page. That is possibly my favourite pic of a 141 Ron Huntley, brilliant!!
Also the pan express one is lovely, as its a black and white pic, i have to ask, what were their colours?

Hi Ben, Pan Express had white motors with a red stripe, red sun visors and pulled red tilt’s. I think Nick the Greek worked for them at one time at Colnbrook and he had a big Union Jack hung up inside the cab.
If ever you start thinking about repainting your 141, this is a livery that I would choose, very distinctive you could see them coming towards you for miles.
Regard’s Steve.
Wheel Nut:
At least EM Rogers and Walkers of Tuxford are still around. along with Smiths of Scotter.Used to haul timber out of Burton Stather wharf on the river Trent for Harry Smith in the late 60’s, I believe his son Tony runs it now. You would turn right out of the gate and be faced with a very steep drag, crawler gear all the way’ at the top of the hill was was a halt sign (you dare not stop)

Me parked up in the Taurus mountains with two guys on Pan Express,Big Rod,(Ace),and Gerry.
Is that Nick the Greek the one that used to drive for Simon International?
This was following Ace when fording a river when we had to go over Mardin and all those small villages in the mountains before the through road from Kiziltepe to Cizre was built. This would be in 1975.

Once again Ian great photo’s, I really like the bottom one it brings back alot of memories.
I met a Nick The Greek who worked for Pan Express at Colnbrook on a couple of occasions between 1980/ 85. On one trip we met at the Czecho border at Rosvadov and ran through Czech/ Hungary before splitting at Szeged where he was going Yugo and as I didn’t have a Yugo permit I had to go through Nadlac into Rumo.
From what I can remember of him he was a stocky built fellow with a small black moustache and I should of thought that he was probably born in London as he had a cockney accent.
Looking at your top picture the stripe appears to be grey or green although I am pretty certain that in the 80s the strip was red. I hope that I am not getting them mixed up with Samship’s who were also seen going through the Commie block on many occasions.
Best regard’s Steve.
By the way, does any body have any idea where I took this picture ?.
The person who I was following appears to be empty so I am presuming that we were on our way to reload somewhere. It must of been taken between 1980/87 but I have absolutely no idea where it is.
I am sure that bestbooties will know this one, anybody else recognise it ?.
Ainacs, dont think i’ve seen any of those before, plenty of Jameson pics but not those. The top one is great, nice to see an original 141 with an exhaust stack, doesnt make me feel like my is so un-original now!
Anyone know what happened to or where SEV928W is now??
Hi Mr 141
No don’t know where SEV 928W is now I sold it to a man from Northern Ireland he flew over and drove it back that was the last I saw of it!
Regards Pat

That is deffinitely Nick the Greek that I worked with on SI.
On one ocassion I was about to ship out to the M/E when we had a phone call from Nick to say he had been pulled by the BAG,(For the uninitiated, that’s not as painful as it sounds, but it could be expensive). He was on his way back from the M/E and having come through Austria was coming into Germany at Kufstein when his tractor was condemned. He was told he could enter Germany bob tail, but could not pull a trailer.
I was told to get down to Kufstein ASAP and help him out.
I got down to Kufstein 2 days later, processed my TIR carnet and pulled onto the exit truck park on the Austrian side, dropped my trailer, went up the Autobahn to the first exit and turned round and came back into the Austrian/German customs.Leaving Austria solo was no problem, and when I met up with Nick,we told the German BAG that I had come solo from the UK to collect his trailer.I collected the trailer, finished the paperwork and drove out of the customs with Nick following me solo. When we got to the first parking area,Nick took over the trailer again and I turned round to go back to pick up my trailer.I carried on with my trip and Nick made it back home, result!
My memory tells me that Pan Express had some red in their colour scheme.but those in my pics only have a blue stripe.
By the way, does any body have any idea where I took this picture ?.

Your first pic could be anywhere in Eastern Europe but I can’t say for sure.
The second pic is most definitely Rumo, can tell by the reg of the Dacia in front and the ubiquitous Roman trucks, but exact location I’m not sure but I must have been that way.

Eastern Europe? I followed a road exactly like that for 20 kms in the Landes south of Bordeaux. At the end was one bloke with an off road fork truck, a pallet truck and a stack of pallets of rolled garden turf. He was just a tad surprised to see a fridge arrive. Oh what fun we had forcing each of those oversized pallets down the trailer.
Not the most unlikely load I put in that frigo. Others included charcoal and paraffin.

Yes it’s defiinitely Romania in 1980 and yes you have definitely been on this road.
Here is a small clue.
If you wanted to travel on this road today you would need a sub from your boss.
Mr 141 another one for you 2 Scania 141’s SEV and BOR and Scania 140 Nar 608P (Ex Pan Express)
Regards Pat
That pic by the river looks like somewhere between Tottenham locks and Cooks Ferry, on the River Lea !!
