Trucker tries & fails to turn his rig around to avoid bridge

Juddian:
Crap happens, it goes with the job, bloody glad didn’t have a wag and drag with an A frame trailer either time mind… :open_mouth:

If only it had been one in this case instead of an artic it probably would have been the best comedy film ever made. :smiling_imp:

When he got out and walked off I thought he was gona come back with a tree branch and thrash the livin daylights out out of it.

I was surprised he came back! Maybe he thought he could sneak it back in the yard and use the “well it was alright when I left it”.

Definitely the 40 sticks of dynamite option to finish the job properly in this case. :smiling_imp:

Happens to the best of us, we all drop the ball from time to time.

What separates the wheat from the chaff is the ability to extricate yourself from the ■■■■ pit without destroying half of your motor & the vicinity.

if he didnt like reversin he could of jacknifed as he did and uncoupled then got back under at a diferent angle

Not sure that I agree with that (and it looks like it could get under anyway unless the angle was deceptive)
I would have reversed back however far it took, in the opposite lane until I came across a side road or a wider point on the road to screw it round as probably most would.
I’ve employed “drivers” :unamused: like that in the past, mostly casuals who later demonstrated as to why they were not working, like the one that decided to reverse 38tonnes into a ploughed field to turn around, and another that got completely under a 13 6 bridge with a 14 6 trailer :smiling_imp:

My brother called me up one morning on his way to work to tell me about what he had just seen. Possibly worse as there is no bridge on the road at all. If anyone knows Round Spinney Industrial estate just off the A43 in Northampton, it appears a chap pulling a TNT trailer had taken the next exit by mistake onto the A5076. Despite there being no bridges and only a mile to the next roundabout TNT attempted to spin it around a couple of hundred yards down the road and promptly got himself stuck. Whether he wedged his trailer against the bank or if he blew his airlines we don’t know, but the police were in attendance and my brother had to divert haha.

We all make mistakes, I’ve found myself having to reverse into residential cul-de-sacs and so on, but you have to keep your head. Start to panic like the guy in the video appears to be doing, and it turns a tricky situation into an impossible one.

I’ve got to admit getting into (& out of) some scrapes in my time but nothing like that, thank goodness

The guy is a complete idiot, if he had reversed a few feet he could have done a’U’ turn, instead he shows he has no common sense and destroys the truck. The actual road width where he is trying is about 35 to 40 feet wide, the truck is 72 feet total and he is pulling a 53 foot trailer. This is the sort of driving standards we see in the USA all the time, I look at these people sometimes and wonder how they pass the test

NO :exclamation: That’s a lie, I know how the pass, it’s because it’s so damm easy over here, drive around a town for 20 to 30 minutes, back in to an imaginary space, there doesn’t even have to be anything there, just imagine there is  When I took my CDL here I had to turn left at some lights, when the green light showed I pulled forward to the crown of the road and waited till it turned red and the traffic coming the other way stopped, I then made the turn, the examiner looked shocked “Well I have never seen anyone do that before, what a great move” he said

I often think that way over here lately also :unamused:
