How do you know everything posted is accurate? Are you learning from good advice, or bad?
There is no editorial, or quality, control YouTube.
True there are some brilliant, informative videos out there, but there are also some well produced videos containing poor advice from idiots.
“Everyone who shares their experiences should be rewarded”?
Financially?
What’s so wrong with a bit of altruism?
Anyway, I suspect some YouTubers do it less for cash, and more for their egos.
I’m learn from everything I see or hear but have to use common sense to filter what’s usable and what is not, thing is I wouldn’t be able to experience all this situations on my own in such a short period of time, so yes it’s definitely useful. I don’t agree with all their practices, but there are things and situations in videos which you wouldn’t even think and know about as a new driver, so it’s definitely worth it to watch. And as I sad, I don’t agree with everything, even in this video when I watch him go under the trailer and then roll out in live traffic…well, I wouldn’t do this…
Trucking sideways:
Highly experienced professional drivers, so much so I believe they are all known as road legends
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
theres half a dozen of similar type fannies in a youtube group that have decided to refer to each other as “trucking ledgends” .
i find them cringeworthy to watch to the extent that almost immediately i couldnt wantch them and only seldom based on a comment in here do i skim through the video clip.
i noticed one called “extreme trucking in london” where some ■■■■■■■ does a normal delivery to a building site in london thinking " i wonder if this ■■■■ has a different dictionary describing extreme"?
switchlogics videos on the other hand are worlds apart, and are good entertainment and interesting,as similar to ned kelly, they are made by guys who know whats what and can do the bizzo hence they arnt an insult to your intelligence and are informative for newbies as well as similar older experienced dudes with no doubt some old hands reliving their old trips through the windscreen.
the “trucking ledgends” might be ok for stobart type schoolboy spotters but they are really just an embarrassment to show how bad road haulage as a trade in general has become.

Yeh?? Have a look at some of his early stuff, driving like an aggressive prick, creating stand off situations, and playing the innocent party every time.
You certainly won’t ‘‘Learn a lot’’ from those vids apart from maybe how NOT to conduct yourself as a driver.
Only time I can be arsed to watch anything he posts is if he is brought up on here, .and even then I only watch em for the comedy value. …
But tbf he has matured a bit since he started driving ‘proper trucks’…although ‘‘Trucking Legend’’ ? …I ain’t so sure.
As said if you want to learn stuff properly on you tube…watch Luke Vernon’s vids., he’s more professional and vastly more experienced.

Agreed, better to take the videos on entertainment value, the information provided is no more reliable than that provided by the big mouthed driver in the mythical RDC.
The video of his that sticks in my mind is the one where he ran right up the back bumper of a car that pulled out and started shouting, swearing and blasting his horn. He had plenty time to slow down but chose to make a drama for his video.
I put on the comments he created that situation and the abuse I got would blow your mind. Lots of name calling and the amount who said he did absolutely nothing wrong was astonishing. I was also amazed at the number of his cult who went on about him being bullied when they were all involved in giving me the lynch mob treatment.
He does seem to have calmed down now but he is not a good example for newbies but the problem with social media is that he thinks he is a legend and there are gullible, easily led fools out there who will see his videos and follow his example

Then there was that prat who put a vid of himself on here in tears about it all …wish I could find that, ■■■■ unreal it was.

I watch Luke, unfortunately he is not so active nowadays, at least on YouTube. I wasn’t big fun of Jays early days videos as well, and often wasn’t supportive of his behavior at all, but I watch him now from time to time, same as I can watch many others and not only from the UK. “Road Legends”, yes, it’s seamed too much for me at the beginning, but in the end of the day it’s just a trademark for some group of vlogers to receive more attention as competition on YouTube is fierce, just a marketing. And they always sad that they don’t consider themselves real road legends, as obviously there are much more experienced drivers out there. From their words they just showing their journey for others to see what this job involves and learn from their mistakes. And this is how I take it, I’m not in anyone’s fun club, if I like video, it’s interesting, I will put [emoji106] if no, then nothing, I might stop watching it after few minutes if it’s boring. So yes, I think such videos are useful generally, especially for people who just started or thinking to start driving lorries.

I like watching trucking vids - they’re entertaining and very useful at times…
But only when made by adults - like our very own Switch
Not this Jay 'flake - whose followed by 'flakes.
Muppet.
Maybe you could write in more detail what you consider childish and what in your opinion means to be adult, because your statement " snowflake, followed by snowflakes" doesn’t sound explanatory to me.

that would imply to me that you would pe a perfect example of the snowflake generation that he is referring to??
apart from switchlogic and ned kelly and some foriegn ones, then mostly its like stobart trucking followed by would be stobart truckie fannys which is completely unrealistic other than working for that type of company.
( malcom has 2 drops in derby to do and he needs to take a 45,will he make it back to crick with only 5 hours driving time lefT) ?.
…another gripping nailbiter from the trucking legend fannies in the cab.

I might represent your generation, you don’t know…[emoji5] And what is so unrealistic about everyday job they show in their videos, I can’t see. Again they might exaggerate with topics, but it’s only to get attention of viewers, I’m not big fun of these things when they try to add elements of show, but it’s personal taste.

It’s all fake its putting themselves in a fantasy world crying for attention self indulgent sad and don’t have a life if you need to do that in life whats the other half of your life like
There is nothing at all in them that life itself won’t teach you maybe the hard way but that’s a good way
People do need to do what turns them on and good luck to them but it’s all fantasies in their own head to what they are really doing
Looking for attention

Yeah but you get blinkered views like that.
The other day a truck pulled into Crick truckstop from the DIRFT direction (so right turn across traffic) but he did so in front of a car which could do nothing and a crash happened. The driver admitted fault, nobody was hurt but the Stobart fan crew then started blaming the car driver. I was like WTF are you lot for real. I’m all for sticking together but the car driver did nothing wrong whatsoever.
