Well , Johnny you are so right , the Thai culture was different, but when the there is work to do , and with my experience , I demonstrating the ERFs capabilities in the desert , I opened a training school naming and showing them all the components of the truck in case of breakdown! And how to service and repair the ERF. un hitching and coupling up , park brake is a must to put on , all the things that could go wrong with heavy loads I was in my element, we did have trouble with the trailer legs not being the heavy duty ,making it difficult to get under the turn table if they had been dropped to low But this was overcome by having all the trailer legs up graded , The heat was the main factor to deal with and I was very conscience of dehydration, and in fact saved the life of one of our lads by sending him to Hospital in Dammam ,always making sure they had Water on board , I had always worked on the shop floor so to speak and the Managers down to the Thai drivers all Appreciated my efforts Ron
dont know, but unknown looks like david hughes
Sorry Curnock for misleading you ? I know exactly who that piece of ? is he was the reason for me leaving the company ,he cut our living expensive down , cut our leave times down, cut our flights down , took the very food out of the mouth of the Thai workers , his very name irritates me , Like most Managers who sit in there A/C offices twiddling a pen trying to justify there Existence .he knew nothing about hard work and the sacrifices that we all made in this Red hot country far from civilisation. Ron

Backsplice !!! A/Cs fridges the F89 was a proper truck , the Mac sleeper was a bit tight we climbed over the seats and through a hole into a Plastic air tight coffin ,in 40 deg with a red hot exhaust underneath getting a trouser leg court on the second gear stick and the other one up your Rs we all thought that this better than sleeping on the back of the 40 ft dreaming of home looking at the Stars , and then to top it all I went to 140 ERF Day cabs NO A/C but !!! ( Wait for it )we had a V-R taco instead , Ron
Little Mary Hooper over the rd from us !! She is 91 and her alarm was flashing in the bedroom she got worked up about it , so she dialled 999 ? The fire engine turned out together with a patrol car and put new batteries in the device so she is OK, before they left Mary asked one of the big butch men to open a tin of Rice pudding , so she could have it for dinner!! Ain’t life grand Ron ,
I forgot to ask Ron … where is the hubbily bubbily pipe ■■?

The wrecks we saw ! and they where all over the place ,where nearly all total destruction , Ron

Geez Ron … that Cunarder came to a messy end lets hope the pilot got out of it ok … I don,t think it was the same one in my pic though as you say stickers ■■ missing … I think the had a couple of dozen working there !!!.. here,s another one
Allo Allo Is there any body out there, Who is this Cunard driver , and what became of his demise ? Or his he alive to tell us the tail of this ERF ? Last known location was in the middle of desert in Saudi Arabia drinking Shi with Backsplice 1979 ish ,
Working for the three crowns on recovery , I went out in the Diamond T to attend to an accident on the Bristol Rd Birmingham at 2am there was just a sprinkling of snow and the roads where covered in ice , there was no traffic about ,going along the duel carriageway looking for this BRS artic I noticed a loaded steel trailer neatly parked up in the centre of a cross over section ? At first I thought nothing of it and actually drove passed it , there where no Police about and very quite ? It was white with snow on a down hill , I then thought there was something about that trailer !!! Turning back ! from the other side I had a shock the smashed up cab was I think was a Bristol or Leyland ■■ 1/2 on the road and the unit was under the trailer, I found out from the cops that the driver had been thrown out and was in Hospital not to badly injured and they had found his gold Watch in the snow ,we suspended this artic and took it to BRS Bromford Lane Depot with the cab roped back it was a good 10ft + s wide , this is a true story ,as KB knows I don’t tell lies !!! I wander if this was the case with this CUNARD ERF ? Ron
