tramping

London is a piece of ■■■■,
try Paris on a Friday in the evening rush hour.

to be honest not been in the smoke much in last 10 yrs.
and the last time i found a tower block had been built on the old coach park i used to use!

all you need is upto date a2z and good Sat nag,
and take a break before you enter.

Best bit of advice I can give for London is, stay calm, keep your wits about you, look out for the dicks who under take you, remember ALL cyclists are militant, don’t go an inch into a bus lane, check your route for low bridges.

Don’t let the above put you off, once you’ve been a couple of times it becomes second nature, enjoy!

Get a copy of the "The London Lorry Guide. " under a tenner from Amazon and make sure you have plenty of driving time as lay-bys are scarce.

A-Z Master Atlas of London
the map that gives you thru routes
and a bridge height map

plus any old sat nav
don’t rush
don’t block junctions

and above all don’t panic

The eye candy inside the M25 especially in the summer months is well worth going inside for.

Avoid anything wearing a helmet, or with Addisson Lee written on it.

TOO TRUE!!

I’ve never had any trouble driving a truck in London tbh, or even a bus in London (bendies when I did it).

The weight limits are mostly night bans, some streets without restrictions are still a no-go, but to be honest, you wouldn’t go down them anyway.

I wouldn’t worry any more about going London than anywhere else for the 1st time.

And, as others have said, tramping doesn’t mean London - I used to do alternate nights out on a job and that was to deliver to Scotland, really nice.

I’m in there nearly every week, don’t get stressed and once you’ve done it a few times you will wonder what the fuss is all about.

Driving in London on a day like today…Wonderful

Brilliant Sunshine, clear blue Sky, 10-12 degrees,
What more could you want?

I never really had a problem with going to London in an artic. It was far far worse in a Sprinter with 30+ drops on, all high street deliveries.
You’ve had most of the good advice: I never used a sat nav but always had a good A-Z open at the right page on the bunk. Personally I always found the drivers pretty good. At least everyone seemed to know exactly what they were doing; the vague dithering drivers don’t last long! Watch out for cyclists and idiot tourists and you’ll be fine.

The centre can be a nightmare with all the one way streets, no entries, buses only etc etc, but dont be put off with a delivery note that says London. Plan your route well, use the North/South Circular as there is less traffic, and places to park, just use your loaf and dont panic as its no different to other major towns, the worst part is the Rush hour and if you can avoid that its a lot better, the last word of advice is, if delivering in the centre, ie Oxford St/ Regent St, Whitehall etc, Do not look at a Taxi driver on roundabouts etc as they have a rule, if you have seen them, then it could have been avoided ( accident ) and they will take liberties as they think they own the roads, i have proved them wrong on a few occasions, but they didnt like it.

It’s alright unless you are going right in to the centre, the CC zone basically even then just go slow & bear in mind it will take you chuffin ages to get anywhere. Lots of nice suited & booted Totty to ogle on the plus side.

Watch out for cyclists, pedestrians, motorcyclists as they are totally oblivious to that Great big Truck your driving   and black cabs that just stop all of a sudden…and there seems to be a high concentration of angry people about …  If you get stressed easily forget it…apart from that its ok

I think I’d prefer London to Monaco… :open_mouth:

Am I the only one who winced when I saw the ventilation fans on the roof of that tunnel? I was ducking on the drivers behalf!!

The trick with London is know where you’re going. :sunglasses:
