Had one of these for 2 weeks now and apart from the poi feature, im very pleased with it
the handsfree works great and routing so far has been spot on
you can load your own poi files but not the icons, you have to choose from the 6 or so standard icons already on it

Google maps is still gratis.
I’ve just received a promotional email from Tomtom with offer of the map of the world for £19.99. Which basically means you can download maps for any country you want.

This World Map upgrade gives you access to all available TomTom Maps.
I can imagine the scene where joe bloggs heads to Florida with his family on their annual holidays and takes his trucknav with him to use in the hire car, but instead of getting to the hotel they end up at an RDC
