Toilet breaks and the law

Please can shed some light on whether you can stop en route for toilet if you are carrying bonded goods,

Light: We are humans who produce wee and faeces regularly. Stop in a safe place and exhaust.

Thanks for your answer, the reason for my asking was somebody had said they had to have a ‘escorting body’ following in another vehicle, & that they had to drive the ’ bonded ’ stock for a large number of hours, and were not allowed to stop even for a pee!! .
Or were They taking the preverbial.

no transport manager/boss can stop you going for a pee/crap . end of
if they insist, just tell em you will see them in court.

what a load of cack

Thing with carrying bonded or other high value loads some of these companies won’t even want their driver to stop and take their daily rest, i had similar on that score , due to delays with the Dover Calais ferries (fog) my duty time was up before i made Amsterdam , They panic about the precious load , an old timer used to say that the most valuable thing on any truck is the driver, therefore him, as both truck and load can be replaced you can’t buy life

The run I was orriginally set on for with my company was Ben & Jerry’s in St Albans VT running from Yonkers NY, a distance of 330 mile by the shortest route, about 100 of those miles are on twisty back roads, so it takes at least 6.5 hours if you don’t have to stop for fuel etc. Our dispatchers expect the trip done in 7 hours but since the day I started I insisted I need at least 8 hours and actually leave NYC 9 hours before the delivery time, if I only have 7 hours I call and tell them the load will be 2 hour late, asked why ?.. Because there is no way I am driving all that way without at least an hour off and if I need to stop I damm well will stop, luckily I have the support of senior management who agree with me.

For anyone doing long runs especially on night trunk, all the best advice given is to take a break after 2 hours. If you’re not breaking your neck for a ■■■■ you may be feeling drowsy, and a short break will kill two birds with one stone?

I am on some tablets that make me ■■■■ like a station horse for about 3 hours after taking them

Stop if you need to go! What’s the worst that can happen?

Thanks for your input, and your last sentence cocludes it’s a high price to pay for the companies pushyness.

Not trying to be antagonistic, but can you lot really not go 4.5 hours without having to take a toilet break? What do you do at night■■? I’m not disputing that it’s your right to stop for a wee or number two, and I understand the “don’t stop” policy for high value loads, but if you can’t hold on for 4.5 hours maybe you need a cathater … or incontinance nappies :open_mouth:

Like I said, not trying to be antagonistic, and it makes sense for high value loads not to stop en route. My question was … “Can you not go without having a ■■■■■ for 4.5 hours”?

Once again I cannot believe that drivers have allowed themselves to be browbeaten and told that they CANNOT stop for a toilet break!!! FFS what in the hell is this world coming to if you are not allowed to stop to pass a bodily function!
I bet the office monkeys aint told they cannot use the toilet untill they have worked for 4.5 hours! :unamused: :imp: :imp:

So it aint just me then, thank Christ for that!!

I’m not disputing your right to take a leak. If my boss told me I was not allowed to take a leak I would tell him to zb off.

I’m just baffled that anyone cant hold it back for 4.5 hours. Is this what I have to look forward to in old age? Not being able to hold my bladder for more that 4.5 hours? How do you even sleep??

Nope, 4.5 hours is far too long to hold anything in!

,
Different people have different needs :sunglasses: They have different characteristics of body functions!! It is simply not the case of ‘really not go 4.5 hours without toilet break’, it isn’t always that simple. some people need a larger intake of fluids for various reasons, others don’t. Some dehydrate at a great rate if fluids are not reguarly maintained. dehyration or too little intake of fluids can lead to poor concentration levels & perhaps even worse when fatigued or stree levels are high. That is just a small insight to the matter :open_mouth: without even touching onto the damage to kidneys, infections etc etc, so its not plain ‘black & white’ to coin a phrase :sunglasses:

Don’t worry it will come soon enough, when you need to get up in the night, mind you that doesn’t matter as you will only get about 4 or 5 hours sleep anyway.

Even the road safety bodies, rac etc, advise you to stop every two hours for a comfort break…

The thread title is toilet breaks and the law.

I will have a ■■■■ when I want one, that is the law :stuck_out_tongue:

Bonnie Lass, it’s interesting you speak of fluid intake levels affecting concentration. I have always found that this and that and sometimes I need to google fishcakes and did you know that piglet is an anagram of get lip?

If I need a ttoilet break/■■■ break whatever, I stop, stick it on break, do what I need to do, then off I go again whether I’ve had 5 minutes or managed to stretch to a qualifying 15. The day I’m told I can’t do that is the day I’ll leave. One thing I don’t do is take the ■■■■. (pun intended)

Not had kids then, I take it? :stuck_out_tongue:
