Why is it there is nowhere to park in London?

Thats a bloody good question DAF,i spend a lot of time delivering in london & trying to find somewhere to park is a mare, round the edges is not too bad but when yr in piccadilly or got to deliver to fortnum & masons & its 11.45am u started at 6am & need to take 30 mins 4 WTD its a ■■■■■■■ nightmare :imp: :imp:

:unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: Here we go again, 15 minutes not 30, which might be easier to squeeze in before getting moved on.

To be fair Coffee every driver up and down the country is being told or taught that its 30 by their superiors and apart from a few on here that have read certain threads all Drivers think its 30 due to this.

An easier way might be to ask him to show you where it says 30 minutes, then take a photo as he reads 15m and it slowly sinks in that a lowly driver knows more than him :stuck_out_tongue:

I agree with Wheel Nut, get him to prove his point, which he won’t be able to.

Here are the regulations to help him in his task, if you want to take pity on him point out it’s all in Section 7 and the bits he really needs to concentrate on are section 7 (1) and 7 (4), particularly 7 (4).

1st e-mail recived

Dear Mr Nicholas

Thank you for your email of 27 September to the Department for Transport regarding the guidance for Working Time.

Your understanding of the break requirements is not entirely correct. It is not the case that you have to take 30 minutes break immediately after 6 hours work. You must take a 15 minute break (as a break is required after 6 hours work and all breaks must be at least 15 minutes in length).

If you are going to be working between 6 and 9 hours then you must take a total of 30 minutes break. The second 15 minute break could be taken later on, and does not have to be taken straight away.

This was an E-mail I recived from

Not read it because its too much to read at this time of night under the influence.

But at work we have been told you need to take a 15min break after 6 hours of work not including POA.

But by 9 hours have got to take 30mins, think they said as well you need to take a break by 9 hours after starting the shift reguardless of POA.

We get infringements for not taking the 15mins, 30mins etc… so its somthing i follow to the book, it seems to be a huge source of infringements though for drivers where i work. We clock up a lot of POA which is a pain in the backside its the only company ive worked for where we use POA any other place ive worked would use rest. But if you put it on rest then when getting de-briefed can get hassle.

Could argue the point that a lot of the time it shouldnt be POA and should be rest or other work, but then again i am agency and they could tell me to F off and not allow me back on site for any old reason anyways the way things are work wise, so if they want POA they get POA though if it was up to me it would be on break which saves a lot of hassles and prob lead to less infringements for a lot of drivers.

A company who have correctly understood the regulations, wonders will never cease. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh dear, and now they’ve gone and blown it. :unamused: :unamused:  :stuck_out_tongue: Nowhere in the regulations does it state a break is required at, or before exceeding, 9 hours. That bit about a break at 9 hours regardless of POA is a new bit of bull crap I hadn’t heard before, wonder if it made their eyes water when they pulled that out of their ■■■. :stuck_out_tongue:

Kenny1975:
so if they want POA they get POA though if it was up to me it would be on break which saves a lot of hassles and prob lead to less infringements for a lot of drivers.

And if it’s a 3 hour period could save using a reduced daily rest period.

Print out the post above from nick2008, the email he quotes comes straight from the horses mouth so should shut your idiot driver trainer up more effectively than advice from some idiot driver on an internet forum, that would be me BTW. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Thats the beauty of reefers, pull up to RDC, get allocated a bay, open doors and back onto bay. That is then is it for working until you get the green light (we don’t do Aldi/lidl/netto)

Ok you might have to wait in the waiting room (with coffee machine and toilets)

Unless you want to be really pedantic and say watching for a green light would be “other work”
