Tipper and sweeper firms

nodding donkey:
I have done tipper work, on the agency. And most of the regular drivers were flooring the throttle as soon as they got out of the yard. A nightmare if you are supposed to go out as a team…

as for the episode where three of the knob heads decided to go three abreast down the M4, slowing down and hollering on the CB…

And driving in the West Coundrrry gives you a whole new meaning of ‘close encounter’… most tippers coming round corners on narrow roads at full tilt, often well over the centre of the roads.
of course there are good tipper drivers.

That’s why I much preffered running on my own, could go at my own pace! Most of our lads were happy to run together though, if we were going to the same job we were content to follow one another and if somebody broke down we would lend a hand if needed. It only causes ill feeling if anyone acts like a ■■■■■ Mick (Malmic on here) will most likely agree with me that there we had no problems with other lads and all got on OK.

Pete.

Has anyone who spouts the pushed and go flat out on tippers ever driven one?

Most of my hgv life has been on tippers rubbish bulked skips roll ons etc and I’ve never been pushed to tear about like a maniac.
Not a lot of sitting about but never had to drive like a nutter to do the jobs.

I have +1 with Steve66 and Liberty Guy on numerous fill in contracts with various types of loads on Class 1 bulker from expensive seed to aggregate to street waste and even sugar beet in between low loader work when it was dead.

Aggregate was ■■■■ and you was expected to keep up with the 8 wheelers who only know one pedal and it ain’t the brake or clutch. I’ll never go back to it again. I’d chose sweeper work over the two though never done it to be honest.
Luckily I’m still in low loader/plant stuff and intend it to stay that way!
