Tilts

We do…   …on multidrop/groupage…   …had three of the [zb]s over the last fortnight…

Particularly cruel when you consider that our bread and butter is containers (although we do a bit of everything except tanks, to be honest…there’s even an old tipping skelly or 2 parked 'round the back to threaten unco-operative drivers with… :open_mouth: )… …so we go from zero effort to far too much effort in less time than it takes to tell the planners where to stick it…which is the point at which they whip out the palm couplings and you know that all hope is lost…

Only one good way to strip a tilt as far as I’m concerned…pour on petrol, apply match. Stand clear. Using this method also guarantees no backload.

Never fails.

Afterthought…maybe that’s why Scunthorpe rod mill makes you strip them outside…and has it’s own fire-brigade!!! :open_mouth:

In short, if asked/told to pull a tilt the best response is “Can I have my P45 instead, please?” :sunglasses:

Put you off yet Glenn■■?

(ps.Tilts are the real reason most continental firms double-man…by the time they’ve fought over who gets to strip the wretched thing they need 22hrs to complete the first 2 drops!)

That was the response of most of the drivers in the company I used to work for, but I thought it was the best job in the company and when I went back to work for them I asked if I could go onto tilts. We did groupage and it got you all round the country into small towns and villages and carried all sort of loads, I enjoyed the challenge of finding the places and getting in and out and loading and unloading differant types of loads, much more fun than pitching up at an RDC.
