He’s about right really it’s a bit late ,you will find some euro tipper work though ,but seriously you need to be mustard on hours because a infringement will cost you dearly over the water .

As others have said. Better gaining more experience in uk! Taking home 5-600 quid per week isn’t bad for uk work! At least you can plan things better. ( birthdays etc). Being in Europe you Carnt always guarantee being home when you need tobe . Have you ever done two 4 hour shifts behind the wheel yet? It’s not easy!

Is that a joke?! The pure driving days are the best thing about European work. Cruise along for 4+ hours, have lunch do another 4+ and park up for the day, lovely

You’re kidding right? That’s about as easy as a job gets. Sit on your arse for a while listening to music and enjoying the ever changing view, have a break, repeat.

Come on lads! Some days you can do two full shifts some you carnt.

The day I cant do two four hour stints will be the day I start thinking about doing something else. I didn’t realise people struggled with something so simple!

+1
Even UK tramping (well its not really tramping as your home weekends but you know what I mean) is great when theres a long run on the cards, its what driving is all about.

joker83:
Passed my licence in November im doing days at the moment taking circa £550 with Saturday,im leaving house sometimes at 4am and comming back 8-9pm so i was thinking about tramping how you guys finding this kind of life? What type of tramping you doing? 4 on 4 off or 5 days away and weekend at home? Whats better uk or over the water? Is it possible to earn about £700 on hand per week or its a myth cheers

By the looks of it your virtually tramping anyway but with very little home time each day which is horrible.
I would say go for it as its much better waking up in a truck and starting work than having next to no home life and having to commute to the truck as well.

That said you should be able to average out £600+ per week UK tramping but whats more important is the quality time at home the weekends. Not sure about Europe though but would presume away months at a time is the norm.

Obviously this depends on your personal circumstances and if there is a Mrs Joker83 or any little Jokers on the horizon.

There’s only mrs at the moment without any [zb] clue how to sort out 20k for mortgage so im thinking about tramping

IMHO, Stay where you are.

IMHO, Stay where you are.

I probably will and do nights or tramping and i will change house for smaller to save on rent and travel so within 3-4 years time im gonna have lovely house at the age of 35

I tramp in Europe every single week. As others have said, 4 hrs break then repeat is a doddle abroad. It’s weird the way trucks disappear when you leave the ports! The job is what you make it.

With that remark you’d better stay in the UK, you won’t get far driving in Europe with that attitude matey…before even considering the continent you’ll need a few lessons in respect.

No they won’t at this occasion not a penny

I was thinking going over the water is best paid but i was wrong obviously tramping in UK may be better sorry for any misunderstanding

Running long distance over the water may well be more enjoyable, but firstly, as has been pointed out, it is a business model which has all but ceased to exist. I have a friend who does occasional trips abroad for a specialist company, the last time he did one he said to me afterwards “Not only was I the only British driver on the ferry, I think I was the only western European driver on it”.

Secondly, if you did work for one of the few British firms who run abroad, you would certainly not earn more than you would doing UK work.

To al intents and purposes, the British continental haulage industry has finished now.

Is very difficult to comment without knowing your parents decision for not giving you a penny towards your house purchase without knowing there reasons / circumstances ( and I don’t really want to know as it none of my business to be honest ) ,I just thought it’s what all parent did ,set aside money for marriages/ house purchases / car purchases etc .
It’s what I’ve done and will continue too do,help my girl out in anyway I can ,be it a cuddle when she has split up with the umpteenth boyfriend or finically.
All I can say is owning a house isn’t every thing ,if it means being a way from the Mrs for weeks on end just to pay for it ,it’s just bricks and mortar ,Mrs will mean a sight more than that to you .
sorry I can’t be of any more help.and good luck

The good money went from driving in the 80’s
