So having had an interview last week, I had another interview yesterday and I’ve just received a phone call to go for another one tomorrow, all in three different places.
I sent my CV off to a job application today by an agency (i think), and he got back to my just the back of 5 there, and said “i’m just looking at your CV, it’s very fancy isn’t it!” to which i replied “yes, i’ve got to do something in order to catch someone’s eye haha!”, he laughed. He asked if I could do any work ie, week days or weekends, and I said yes of course. So he has asked me to go visit him tomorrow and sign up.
Good thing is, my age and experience (or lack of-) shall we say is all on the CV so he doesn’t seem bothered by it!
The three interviews aside, I have a cousin who is one of the top heads at DHL and she is going to speak to a couple of people tomorrow to try and get me a perm start there.
I really hope something comes from one or other.
Good luck with that then Sam, the more contacts the better so follow every lead up!

Good luck Sam! So what’s your cv secret? I’ve spoken to 9 companies and 3 agencies in 3 days and got SFA
I went really over the top with the CV and made it really colorful, yet professional. Ignore the massive Sam Millar bit on it I just put that there as a watermark. Before anyone tells me I shouldn’t of posted it, i’m happy to share it as it’s obviously helped me and hopefully it may help others.

That is a very eye catching CV Sam, I don’t think I have seen one quite as elaborate before but it seems to have done the trick.
Thanks Harry, I had to make my slim chances slightly better so to do that it was to make something eye catching.
On top of that though, the two companies I’ve had a call back or an interview from was because ( I think ) I phoned them asking if they got it.
EG; I sent my CV by email yesterday and immediately phoned them asking if they got my CV I sent them, (I made up an excuse that the internet had cut out or something so I wasn’t sure if they got it or not)… I think this forces them to look at it, and with the help of a catchy design it should impress. I’ve done that with two companies now and two of them have given me an interview.
Good luck with the interviews. Pete

That looks really impressive. Definitely catches the eye which is a good thing, and it’s obviously worked for you. Hope good things come of it, certainly sounds like they will.
Good Luck Sam,
Fingers crossed you get a job.
really pleased for you

Thats an awesome CV, puts mine to shame
If I dont have any luck with my CV’s that have gone/are going out I might have to see if I can make a similar one
Not had much luck so far, but early days yet
Also good luck with the interviews.

Best of luck, got to say i like the cv its eye catching and still smart looking and not boring.
I’ve got to say Sam, I normally don’t like fancy CVs, but your one really does look good, and would certainly make me read it if it landed on my desk. Looks like a really well laid out & thought out one.
Gary
That’s a very tidy CV, how did you put it together if you don’t mind me asking?
Was it photoshop or something like that?
Got my class 2 a couple of weeks ago, still to do my CPC and will have to redo my CV.
Your design looks like it might be worth nicking
Cheers.
My only worry with a fancy CV is that the recipient can open & read it without too many problems. I have just been busy sending regulations out for a race meeting and it is amazing how many people cannot open and print simple PDF documents
Otherwise well done Samuel

Well this is sent in JPG obviously because of the nature of it with all the colors and layers there is to it, so far no problems I hope haha.

It was made in photoshop, and at the rate I’ve sent out CVs to companies, it won’t be worth nicking the design as everyone will have seen it! haha
Thanks all.
Auch, I’ll just change some of the stub colours and redo the background with more of a lino or carpet effect that should make it look like my own
In fact it’s gonna have to be tarmac.

If you’re actually serious then I’d be very careful as I’ve been given special permission to use some of the graphics on it.
